    Crystal Lake

Don't know if anyone is watching, but I think it's an interesting series, especially after the franchise has been dormant for so long. I've only seen the first two episodes, but they seem to be trying to make the franchise into a kind of scifi-horror thing. It seems Pamela and Jason were on the run from some mysterious people before coming to Crystal Lake six years prior. It seems Voorhees are actually assumed names they took to hide. Also gives some background for crazy Ralph. He's a Vietnam vet with PTSD. They did change the time of Jason's fateful day from the late 50s to the early 70s. All in all, I like it so far.

I binged the series over the last week and really enjoyed it. I'm only a casual Friday fan, having seen at least the first 6 or 7 films and a few since. But I like that the series remembered what it was and gave us plenty of fun gore moments (with mostly practical effects), but also added some meat to the bone and a bit more substance. I didn't mind the retcons, because it explains some things about the films, but I know diehards may dislike that. But the owner of my LCS is about the biggest Jason fan I know, and he loved the series, which is one reason I watched it. Linda Cardelinni was great, and the supporting cast was really strong. Hope we get a season 2.

I finished watching it and loved it. I much prefer the scientific explanation for Jason to the mystical nonsense. I HATED Jason Goes To Hell. His accelerated growth allows for the movies to still take place in the eighties, and the time change is nothing more than the sliding time scale the comics have used for years. Jason is kind of a failed super soldier. I would like to find out more about the growling baby with its head in the black bag. Jason Voorhees sounds alot cooler than Jason Wittering.
