    REC & Quarantine

REC is the original Spanish horror flick...Quarantine is the American remake.

Both are scary as heck...two of the best zombie-type flicks I've seen to date.

Shot in the handi-cam horror film genre documentary style...both films are basically about a reporter and her cameraman...following firefighters into an apartment complex...they meet a couple of cops...they all get locked in the apartments (along with the residents)...because it's soon discovered there's something in the "air" that causes quite an effect on people...

...and I'll stop at that...I don't want to give it away...but I guarantee you that you'll be on the edge of your seat...these are two intense and scary good movies...you have been warned...lol.

Both are great...but if I had to choose one over the other...I'd pick the Spanish version...REC...very bone chilly creepy flick that one was...lol.

Quarantine is good too...and you don't need subtitles for that one...lol.

BTW...GREAT acting in both films...the leading ladies know how to act SCARED...really SCARED.

Can anyone tell me why the US feels the need to remake just about anything?
If the original was good, leave it alone. So what if it is a foreign movie...

Remakes "remake" the money, which is really why they do it. I have a hard time with subtitles.

I liked [Rec]2 a great deal... imagine the Blair Witch aesthetic meets Night of the Living Dead and the exorcist.

Quarantine is a fairly faithful remake, except for the fact that they forego the Supernatural aspects for a fairly lame "Scientific" explanation that had me kind of groaning... particularly after seeing the two [Rec] films.

                  I myself like subtitled films.

                  I didn't need subtitles for REC...because I speak Spanish...lol.

But in films like Germany's Das Boot (The Boat) and Der Untergang (Downfall)...I much prefer them speaking German...it's real. I don't want Germans speaking English...it takes away the historical accuracy...and cheapens the entire experience for me.

Exactly. That usually bothers me as well, even more so when they fake a German accent
