Question about Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things

Was watching Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things last night.

A buddy loaned me it on DVD

I havent seen it since the 70's and I can honestly admit it's not as good as I remember it

My question is, thoughout the movie there's a weird red-ish tint to the sides of some of the frames of the movie.

Back in the 70's it was shown in fullscreen so I never seen that before.

Was that red-ish stuff put in as an artistic way of making the movie more scary or "camp" at the time ?

Or, is it just the film deteriorating over the years ?

a not so good transfer is what this would be called. On a normal analog tv this would have been covered up from tv overscan.

Which dvd version are you watching (company)

I don't have it in hand ... I gave it back already ...

I don't remember the company name but the DVD itself had a painting of them all sitting on a sofa for a label.

I have the movie it does not have the reddish tint.
Hey for a movie that was made for 40,000, and grossed 1 million. its not bad.

VCI and anchor bay released this as well as several lesser name companies. It sounds like Type1kirk might have viewed a budget version
