    Should I watch Forever Knight?

I took my spouse to see the bad guy from Chronicles of Riddick performing Macbeth and Cyrano de Bergerac at the Stratford Festival this weekend.

The Forever Knight was playing Duncan, and at intermission, she admitted to me that she had gone to a Forever Knight convention as a teenager during her "Goth" phase. Now I already knew about her deep dark secret of being closet Trekkie during pubescence (and her misadventures at a Toronto Trek), but this one was new! We've been together close to a decade, she won't step inside a comic book convention or toy show, but has been to a FOREVER KNIGHT convention of all things!

Not having ever seen the show, I know I will be watching hours and hours of it if I decide to surprise her with a DVD boxset of Forever Knight.

So... is this show worth getting?

My caveat is that I had seen the Nick Night pilot movie with Rick Springfield, and didn't think much of it at the time. But I would imagine it's akin to judging Linda Carter's Wonder Woman TV show based on the Cathy Lee Crosby pilot. So I'm willing to keep an open mind, especially since The Forever Knight delivered a great performance in Canstage's live theatrical Elephant Man last year.

I enjoyed the series while it was on. It was kind of "soft" on the vampire horror aspect but not a soap opera type show. Not as edgy and teeny oriented as Angel or Buffy, but fun in its own way. The series finale is a bit of a downer though.

It was definitely a good show; the only problem was it kept being jerked around in the time slot!

It's worth it to watch Nigel Bennett as Lacroix, Nick's sire, nemesis and sometime friend.

He's easily the best part of the show.

Think of James Marster's Spike, but with a thousand years of experience of being a vampire behind him.

Very witty, urbane, sarcastic as all get out, vicious, and surprisingly multi-faceted for one of the fanged circuit.

      I say watch it.

Some of the episodes were clunkers, (especially the last season! Woof!)
but overall, it was a good show that never got the appreciation from the network that it deserved.

I loved it in the first few seasons; jumped the shark when it went to sci fi channel ( kind of a pattern with that IMO) and tried to be too interview with a vampire. If you can find it on ov guide check it out

Some great episodes.. a few of my favs were.....
1.The one that had the side story of Lacroix meeting the young just coming home from WWI Hitler on the train and backing off from killing him because he was horrified by the evil he saw in him.

          2. The one with Lacroixs daughter/Sire. Really creepy role reversals Father, daughter, Sire, lover

          3. And the ending of coarse. You knew there was no other possible outcome for Nick.
Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
          Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.
In the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever.

Here is the most frightening part. I've just discovered that somewhere squirreled away on the premises, unbeknowst to me, I've been sharing a roof with A BOX OF OATMEAL SIGNED BY NIGEL BENNETT. This is hilareous and really quite sad at the same time.

It's okay, there are some great eps but as previously stated its not as edgy as others.
I know I watched it when it was on.some I enjoyed others put me to sleep. But then again sometimes it was on very late...

Decent show the first few years but it ran out of ideas. also the lead Gerard wynn davies started to chunk up.

kind of like a watered down ANGEL series before angel was even in Buffy.

                  Hmmmm....

If you're into this sort of thing it's okay. In a lot of ways it's almost the progenitor of the current crop of sort-of-vampire dramas we've seen the last ten years or so.
