Hugely disappointed by all the Return of the Living Dead sequels... I believe that the "Return" movies were writer John Russo's while Romero got "of the Dead".
I was disappointed with Diary of the Dead (given how others have done the "fake documentary" horror film better).

You have to applaud their highly original writing skills.
You don't just make that up overnight, you know. It takes several drafts, from
Bub....to Dub (no, that's not it)....to Buck (no, too macho!).....to Dud (no, too silly!)...to Bud!

I'm not much for remakes, especially on movies that I loved, like the original Dead series. I'm glad I passed!Leave a comment:

Bud....LOL that was a real genius twist....
I could see them all sitting around the writing room brain storming that one...
"I got it lets turn the b from Bub around and we have a d for Bud."Leave a comment:

The upcoming film version of World War Z &The Zombie Survival Guide might be promising. I saw the trailer for this film a few years ago when it's release was put on hold and it looked like total kee-rap! Did you guys know that the 1985 film Return of the Living dead had been remade and sequelized already? Just from looking at the box cover it seemed like garbage. The Tom Savini Night of... remake was very promising but other people connected to the original version, ( other that George Romero), kept throwing roadblocks in his way.Leave a comment:

you know the original sucked and I thought Hey, if they did such a good job on the Dawn remake maybe they did something good with Day too.....no such luck, it sucked.Leave a comment:

There are some likenesses between original and remake, but only if you stretch it beyond belief.
It has the military.
There's a "friendly" zombie named Bud.
The lead is female.
There's no secret military base.
No zombie experiments.
No civilians butting heads with soldiers.
Just call this movie DINO.

Why lie? There are literally dozens of good zombie/horror movies out there. Can't you just recommend one that you prefer instead? Even if you are on commission, that's one sale but I'm assuming that in the long run you'd feel better recommending whichever DVD rerelease of the original Day of the Dead is currently available with whatever new extras they have thrown in this time.
So this version is a remake in name only? No soldiers vs scientists or "Bub"? I'd assume this was essential to anything called "Day of the Dead", in much the same way that Dawn needed to be set in a shopping mall.Leave a comment:

Mmmmm. Heads....guts.......
I think we're in agreement.
Dawn remake....gooooooddd!
Day remake.....baaadddd!!!
Guess I'll have to lie when selling this movie.
"Sir, is this movie any good?"
"Best zombie movie ever, son. Buy it!"
I hate selling crap to people.....Leave a comment:

All I had to see was Nick Cannon was in it. That turned me from it right there.
That dawn remake rocked, and one of the only remakes I ever dug that was from a film I already loved.

Just watched it!?!?!?!?
W t F was that???
A real crap-fest for sure!
Really not impressed. The whole ving thing could have been an awesome angle. They could have had his brother show up from the new dawn remake that would really have been cool.
I mean he could have even played his brother...LOL
disappointed to say the least.Leave a comment:

I didn't even know they remade it. That's the only "Dead" movie I don't have on DVD yet (original Day of the Dead). Yeah, sounds crappy.

The zombie premise is starting to seem like the vampire movie, played out.
However, I think it's a matter of talent and taste.
Lots of good zombie movies could be on the horizon.
If the people who make them use their heads and trust their guts.
Usually, what seems to happen is that someone with an interesting, somewhat original idea beats their head against a brick wall getting it made or gets it made and it disappears without a trace, either way because of the money people.
At the same time, the money people churn out sequels and prequels of things that make a buck.
There are exceptions, but few. Romero's movies try to buck this trend by retaining some quality and intelligence.
The zombies movies getting made are for profit these days.Leave a comment:

Yeah I got a thing for Zombie movies..
1. Zombies with 1/2 their muscle mass rotted away should NOT be able to do olympic sprints
2. Zombies with NO lungs should not be able to make noise.Leave a comment:
