Death Race remake

Does anyone plan on seeing Death Race? I have the original Death Race 2000on DVD, which is a low budget camp classic with a little political commentary thrown in. The new one looks like dumbed down cr@p for people who like violent video games. I'll stay home and watch the original.

It looks like they took all the cool characters/drivers and replaced them with Fast and the Furious type "badass's". Looks real lame.

Hmmmm....

It looks like one of them films that'd be perfectly okay if they HADN'T named it after an old film. This is "Lionheart" with less VanDamme and more cars. The original Death Race was about people's fascination with violence. I suspect that (as well as the "war" with the French air force) will be conspicuously absent in the new one.

...unless it's based on the 1975 video game "Death Race." In which case it's still off, since the game didn't have guns.

Either way I saved $10.

Its funny its become ingrained in our society. I hear people joking all the time about "Going for points" but few people can remember where its from.
