    Olympic Table Tennis is AWESOME!!!!

The heck with swimming, track & field, boxing, gymnastics, wrestling, etc...TABLE TENNIS IS WHERE IS AT, BABY!!!

The match between Brazil's Gustavo Tsuboi and Canada's Peter Paul was UNREAL...this stuff was off the hook...a thrilling match that went to the wire with the Brazilian winning...wow.

I wish I could play like that...it's friggin' off the chain, lol.

I worked at the Summer Olympics held in Atlanta in 1996 managing accommodations mostly. I often got tickets to go to off the wall (by American standards) events. These events were Water Polo, Table tennis, Badminton, Synchronized Swimming, Wrestling, & Handball. I gained a huge respect for them all and even came to love a few. I got to go to several of the "Ppopular" events, like dream team basketball games and the opening ceremonies, the the odd ball stuff was fun.

I had four tickets to a table tennis match that was sold out and was taking a coworker along. I figured I'd give the 2 extra tickets away at the event, IF anyone wanted them. I had no idea how popular this sport is with the Asians. There was a huge throng of asian kids waiting outside the venue, hoping for tickets. I could have named my price on the two I had. I was literally bum-rushed when they realized I had two available. Try imagining that you are surrounded by about 50 Asian kids screaming at you in several languages you don't understand. There was no escape. I handed the tickets to a young girl and said take who you like. I don't even know if she understood me, but she screamed with excitement and ran off. I'll never forget many of my "olympic memories", but that one will always stand out.

The event itself is very fast paced and the fans are serious. Its amazing to watch.

Those that can play the sport have my respect but it's strange to see competitive badminton and other sports that to me are the types of things you do at family bbq's.

I don't know if we'll see Olympic croquet, bocce, and how about horseshoes (I bet the U.S. would be good at that one).

I still don't get that Winter Olympic sport with the big round stone and the brooms that seems big in Canada. I have never ever seen anyone in the U.S. participating it and can't even remember the name of it.

When I think of the lameness in that. I think of the funny spoof movie, "Balls Of Fury."

                  Anyone watch that?

Balls of Fury is funny as heck.

I loved the lead dude who looks like Sam Kinison, the Def Leppard music, and that hot Asian girl, Maggie Q.

Oh...and Christopher Walken was a riot, lol!
