    Broken PS3

Well got a 80gb PS3 that wouldn't read discs. I pulled the blue ray drive and replaced the lazer.
First time I tryed to do this. Parts and machine $250. I now have the PS3 motor storm pack and it works great.

Sounds like a good deal. How difficult of task was it to replace the laser? Just wondering in the unfortunate event that if one should ever happen to go out. On the brighter side atleast I know of someone that can change one out.

That is a pretty tempting deal you were offered there. I would say go for it if you can for it may not last at such a great deal.

I've been taking computers and other things apart since I was a kid.
I found it wasn't hard to do. But I used two youtube videos for info.

This one to show how to get to the drive.
YouTube - How to replace a PS3 blueray drive
This one to show how to get to the lazer
            YouTube - Cleaning PS3 Blu-ray drive lens

After seeing those I figured I could do it.
than figured the rest out my self, took less than an hour and I was playing a game on it.

I ordered a couple more lazers and I'm trying to get a couple more 80gb units cheep. Fix them and sell them.

That version is really in demand for some enthusiasts because it is the most backwards compatible version (it includes the same chip that the PS2 uses while current models just use less effective software emulation). There are people out there who would pay more than $300 for that particular model new/sealed. That's a good deal.

                PS3 broken 60gb $250 + 55 for a new lazer. (can't find one in online store)
                PS3 broken 80gb $200 + 55 for a new lazer. (499 in online store)
                PS3 broken 40gb $165 + 55 for a new lazer. (399 in online store)
These are the prices I paid this week so $300 for a new boxed one is great.
(yes after fixing one I'm going to try a few more for profit. All compleat with box)

Seems there not making the 60gb any more (or at least not enough that any store has them)
                  Amazon - New $860 - $1300 used $410 -$535 refurb $575

                  So yes toys2cool BUY IT!!!
you could re-sell it and make a profit.

Don't do it. It's obviously a scam. Way too good to be true.

That 60GB PS3 for $300 is a good deal. New PS3s don't have the backward compatibility built into the hardware, so the old 60GB ones sell for decent money. You could probably swing a $100-150 profit on the deal.

Oh yeah, that's a scam. Look at the order form, they ask for your 3-digit security code.
$34.99 with free shipping? Come on, you couldn't have thought it was real.

Just visiting that site worries me.

Why is this Playstation3 System so cheap?
We get paid through our network of sponsors for every survey you fill out. This gives us the purchasing power necessary to pass these large discounts on to you.

How soon will I receive my unit?
Our Asia service center usually processes orders within 1-3 business days. From there, your order number can be used to view the status of your shipment. Shipments to Asia fulfilled within 2-3 business days after leaving our warehouse, please allow 8-10 business days for delivery to the Americas, Western Europe and Australia.

What payment types do you accept?
We accept all Visa & Mastercard credit and debit cards.

                            Is my payment safe?
Our shopping cart uses 128Bit SSL encryption. Your personal information is completely safe
                            From their FAQ's.

I went to the order page - and it says $34.99 + Free shipping - no paypal...you have to give credit card details. . .this has to be a scam to get your credit card details - you have to give them you Credit Card No, Expiry date and security number from the back. . . .from there they can just make as many copies of your card as they like I am guessing.

But man. . .I am half tempted to take the risk!

When I google search "playstation 3 60gb" it comes up on top of the right side under Sponsored Links.
If it was a pop up I would know it was a scam but because of where it is makes me wonder.
