1st Day of school

Well Summer is over for us. Today was the first day back to school.

Anyone else have the tearful farewells at school today?

Yep, first day here as well. Kids are back in school and wife is back at work (she's a school teacher) so all's right with the world.

My first day of school I forgot my teachers name. I can remember sitting at my desk frantically trying to remember her name, so I could ask a question. Thats my biggest memory of the first day of school

I did okay on my first day. It was a few weeks in, when I realized my halcyon days at home with Mommy were over that I had a nervous breakdown and had to be picked up. So don't feel bad Mike.

My son goes back tomorrow. He'll be in first grade. I think he's actually looking forward to it. He's much more sociable than I ever was.

School won't start here till the 25th,I hated the first day of school when i was a kid,My eye would get all watery when my mom would leave and my stomach would always start to hurt

I have a very vivid memory of my first day of school. It was the first day of first grade and we lived on an Air Force Base in CA so we could walk to school. My mother told me to come straight home after school. I let my friends talk me into going to the playground instead. She had called my Dad from work and the base police, who were all looking for me when I finally showed up. After the joy of me being ok had worn off she sent me upstairs and spanked the hell out of me with a switch. That whipping made a lasting impression on me. Even in college I would call my mom and tell here where I was going after classes were over. I also never let friends talk me into anything else again.

Not really, I was the geek from 1st grade till 12th. I also had my crying spell in 1st grade, but it was a few weeks later. I missed my dogs

My kids don't start back until the 25th.

My daughter begins Middle School this year but thankfully she has an older brother who will be in his last year of Middle School before heading to High School so I highly doubt there will be anyone picking on her.

Now see, we used to start here around that time, the whole time I was in school. We'd be in school for a week, and then get out for Labor Day. Seemed kind of weird to me.

My wife taught pre-school a few years back, and every year, school would start around the first week of August here. This year is the latest school has started in a good decade. We now have fall break and more vacation days than I did while in school, but it still seems wrong to spend the majority of August (the hottest month in these parts) in doors behind a desk.

I can't wait for my kids to go back to school....I do love them but
they've been off for ages.
I haven't had any (groovy) time with my wife, I need to go back to work
because I've spent soooooo much money...Holidays are expensive.
