    The Dark Knight: Silent Version

This is bloody brilliant, especially where the Joker is concerned, considering Veidt was the inspiration for the character...

Yeah, the Joker is Conrad Veidt in the classic film "The Man Who laughs", the inspiration for the character. The Penguin is I believe, Doctor Calgari and the Bat is the Bat.

Excellent combination of vintage footage and music.

You have to admit: 1920s movies rock!

Being a fan of silent films, I really enjoyed the splicing of different films to make one fantastical Dark Knight make-believe 20s era film...brilliant.

Wow, that's pretty cool! I had never actually seen footage from "The Bat" or "The Man Who Laughs", although I knew they served as inspiration for Batman and the Joker. Vedt's Gwynplaine was actually a hero, not a villain. He had a smile cut into his face by rival gypsies!

Incidentally, the name Gwynplaine was used as a cover name for Joker's company in the Justice League episode "Wild Cards".

Oh, I almost forgot. His "Ra's Al Ghul" is actually J. Carrol Nash as Dr. Daka from the first Batman movie serial!
