    Favre out of Green Bay

After last night's closed marathon discussion between Favre and the head coach, it became apparent there would be NO competition for the starting QB position and that the end of the Favre-era Packers was upon us. Today it was confirmed. Farve is out and a trade is in the works. Primary talks are with the Bears and Jets. I don't see the Vikings getting him unless they give up another Hershel Walker-style trade which I don't believe they'll do...again.

With the Maddon "Curse" I'd be even afraid to play,.. no matter if my name was Farve.

It would be interesting to see what he could do for the Bears. H'ed fit in there pretty well. I wish he'd play Back up,.. or consider it. I'd like to see him up here for Mike's last yr.

Why? He's not in his prime anymore and lets be real how long can he still play? 1 or maybe 2 seasons, And the Dolphins are still rebuliding, I have nothing agianst him i just feel he had a great career and he should retire and in 5 years give his speech at the hall of fame

Talk at the bar after work was the Bucs. Personally I don't follow anything, a Sunday game is fun to watch no matter who is playing.

It's really unfortunate, because Brett had a picture perfect retirement. Until the 2007 season, most felt Favre should had retired years earlier (especially after having two losing seasons). He was fortunate to still be there during a prime rebuilding period when the young talent around him began to develop and build chemistry. Favre's personal stat book benefited greatly and his performance as a quarterback was propped up for the 2007 season. But let's be honest...NO ONE felt this guy had much left in the tank after botching the NFC's championship game. The guy was out of gas long before that last pass was thrown and it was clear he was done. Brett knew it too and made the right decision by getting out before putting the team in a bad position to have to ask him. He was fortunate to get a good run in his final year, filled with heartfelt acculades from everyone in the league and goodwill from people all over the country. I think there was almost a collective sense of relief that Favre got to go out with a good year.

So it's with great disappointment that I've had to watch Favre crawl back with this bloated sense of self-importance and seeming inability to realize that his career is indeed over. Anyone who has played this game knows, you can't just go to another team and expect a similar performance and identical chemistry with your team mates. Significant time and experience is the only thing that gives you that and Favre doesn't have that luxury, expecially after this media circus he has created. He should have known that too. The truth is very simple. He just can't let go and he's going to embarrass hiimself - Something everyone thought he had manage to avoid. It's a damn shame.

Yea really why. He's has to be one the most overrated QB's of all time imo. He's old and way past his prime. Farve this and Farve that for years and all the guy does is make bad decisions and throw picks. Yea he old school tough but man he scares me about as much as McCown.

are you guys forgetting that last year was one of his best seasons ever? He can still play at a high level for the next couple if not 3 or 4 years, remember he really didn't have anyone and look at what he did with that team.Throw him in a team that's up and coming and you got something,Like Chicago,Tampa Bay,Minnesota or the Jets

I think it's now between the Buc and the Jets. Farve is still very good. He's still much better than, at least, 75% of the quarterbacks in the league.

I agree,I'd love to have him in Miami, even though I hate the fact that he passed most of Marino's records

Great, just what the Bucs need. Another QB controversy.

Personally, I think he should call it quits. He had a great season last year and is an icon in Green Bay. There really is a lot to be said about a player who stays with a team for their entire career. The Packer fans will immortalize him. He is 38 or 39 years old? Maybe another 1 maybe 2 seasons left. I just think moving to another team would leave a lot of bad feelings toward him with Packers fans. I really get upset when a longtime Redskin leaves for another team for selfish reasons and tarnishes their reputation in my opinion.

He can still make a ton of money with product endorsements, a book deal, etc. but it will be a huge turnoff if he goes to another team. Darrell Green played his entire career with the Redskins and was a shoe in HOF player 1st ballot. Redskins fans love him because he played his entire career for them and is well received wherever he goes around here. I don't think it would have been the case, had he moved to another team.

If he wanted to continue to play, he really should have held off announcing his retirement but I can see how the Packers are in a Catch-22. They already have their new quarterback but I think they want Favre to stay a Packer which is making the situation uncomfortable and in the end makes Favre look bad in my opinion.

I don't want Farve with the Bears. Last thing they need is another QB that will last 1 year then be gone. Kyle Ortin or Rex Grossman.
