    Real Superhero

With all the talk about Superman and Batman, I thought I'd share a story about a real suoerhero... A couple months ago I was on my lunch hour at my house. I was watering plants in backyard and my mom and 2 and1/2 yr old son were watering plants in front yard. I noticed my big lab and 2 smaller dogs ( 1 chihuahua and a red chihuahua/jack russel mix)were barking like crazy-Ithen heard my mom yelling for me.
I ran through garage and saw my mom had my son behind her and a big German Shepperd was in my yard barking at them. Before I could take a step, I heard a load BANG behind me and I saw a red blurr go shooting past me and hit the Shepperd. I made sure mom and son ok as we saw only a big ball of flying grass and growls. A few seconds later the dogs were racing down the street and my mom yelled" it's Murphy oh no!" Murphy is my red Chihuahua jack russel and he is all of 14lbs...the Shep was like 50-60lbs.
I ran to street to get my dog expecting a bloody mess... I could see down about 6 houses a red dot in the grass and the figure of the shepperd running full speed away- Oh jeez my dogs dead! I get to Murph's heaving body in the grass but see no blood as I look him over...WOW! he chased the shepperd down the street and was so fat and outta shape he just ran out of gas chasing him! I carry him back home and when he sees my son, he sniffs him over then goes to the bushes and does a quick spray job b-4 trotting through hole in my wooden fence he made...it seems the BANG I heard was Murph batterinramming his way out to get the shepperd...knocked 1 fence board clean off the nails and bent it to boot!
Now when Murph is on my lap at night and we have all settled in, I can't help but think of that day and how awsome he was!!! How can people treat animals like crap and leave them on chains and neglect them? There are so many Murphies out there!!! all 3 of my pups are from the local Animal Shelter and Murphy was a 2 time reject-now he is a HERO!

Great story! Any idea who the German Shepard belonged to? I'd look into that, in case he ever comes back.

My beagle-hound Buggaloo once put herself in-between my son and a pack of dogs wandering down the road. The lead dog was a Chow. She slid in-between the Chow and Andrew, bared her teeth and let off a Cujo-like growl. The Chow and other dogs just walked on down the road. We were all very impressed and proud of her.

      Don't mess with the Murph!

I'm only glad he wasn't inside, forcing him to punch a hole in your house! What a great story and a great dog.

I still say both Superman and Batman can take him.

                  Just teasing...great little hero indeed.

Great story. Shelter dogs are the best. Our county animal control is taking in over 40 animals a day!! So, needless to say, Mrs. TBolt decided to help out in this crisis. Soon you will see the arrival of Zippy.

Our dog did something similar- taking down a pitbull that charged my wife - well not very similar considering my dog is 90 pounds and 4 years old at the time(sherrpherd / doberman mix) - much more impressive when a ChiWaWa does the take down.
