John Lennon's estranged father, Freddie Lennon

Looks like John Lennon's estranged father, Freddie Lennon tried to capitalized several times on his son's fame.

He recorded a couple songs back in the early 60s that never charted.

This one turned up. It is actually worth a laugh.

Wow, the melody is eerily similarly to Imagine.

    Which one was written first?

Freddie's song came out in 1965. John Lennon wrote imagine officially in 1968 and it was released in 1971 on and as his solo album, "Imagine"

Do the math, I think John subconsciously ripped off his own dad.

I got a whole bunch of rare John Lennon recordings including a song he did in 1968 called "Child of Nature" which later surfaced in his solo album "Imagine" refinished under a new title called, "Jealous Guy."
I think I liked "Child of Nature" better but that is just me.

Looks like some dofus put it on Youtube.
All the money I paid for John Lennon bootlegs before youtube. You don't want to know. :(

By the sounds of both tunes, and going by your dates, yes, John was influenced by his dad's song...at least the melody part

I'm not talking about the song, I'm talking about the melody...they are both eerily similar, especially the beginning.

By all accounts, Fred Lennon was a total jerk to his family (namely John)

Unfortunetely, it carried onto John who was just as bad to Julian.

When it comes to family priorities, I don't have respect for either of them.

The song is a total joke.

Also, the ocean wave is funny.

              It sounds like canned laughter

Another thing the ocean really reminded me of was the intro to John Lennon's "Beautiful Boy" about his son Sean.

I wonder how much did John actually subconsciously lift from his father.

I have read so many books and even chatted with someone who claimed to be Julian Lennon through Myspace. All accounts say they all agree John was a horrible father and Freddie was a *******.
Freddie kept turning up looking for handouts from John during the hype of Beatlemania. Toward the end, John forgave Freddie when he was on his death bed dying in 1976.
