More Batman!! Let's see YOUR artwork!!

So Raydeen and I have corresponded a bit over the last few days, and he showed me an absolutely beautiful pair of Batman pencil sketches that he did.

I had a Batman pencil sketch of my own laying around that I've been toying with on and off for the last couple of years, and he inspired me to show it to him.

Anyhow, I've decided to share with the rest of the gang here at the museum. Hopefully, Raydeen can be pursuaded to do the same.

Maybe some of you guys have created a nice Batman-related piece of artwork (or two) that you'd like to share?

    Here's my contribution:

This is an un-finished pencil drawing I’ve been working on of The (classic) Dynamic Duo. It’s titled “Gotham Night Patrol”.

MEDIA: Mixed-hardness pencils on 1/4 inch thick white painted masonite hardboard.

MEASURE: 4 feet wide by 6 feet tall.

SYNOPSIS: This is a night time scene depicting the Dynamic Duo on vigilant patrol from a grimy rooftop in Gotham City. The scream of a crime victim has just risen from far below, and the pair prepare to leap into action. A pale full moon lights the scene, and the hazy smoke from a nearby roof top’s chimney hangs behind our heroes.

    Hope you guys like it.

I said it before and I'll say it agian. The rendring of this image is astounding. It looks like a painting, not pencils. I want Darklord to render one of my pencil drawings in this manner. I'll go so far as to mail him the original and get him to render over my pencils.

You sir have some serious skills. This is such a clean, classic looking Duo. You can hear the victim screaming as you look at the faces of B and R. It's museum worthy. I want my signed copy for my wall.

              Darklord...that's just simply spectacular!!!!!!

Everything about it is perfect...from being anatomically dead on...to the scale, angles, perspective, proportion...and most of all...the shading...wow...I'm floored.

              BEAUTIFUL!!!!

I also draw...not like you though...I also paint...but latley I have been toying with Illustrator...here are some samples of my work...I have a published magazine art cover for Laney College...the annual book just selected my cargo ship over other finalists...I was so happy...

That's really great, Darklord, I like it a lot. I also can't believe that's just done with pencils, wow. And are you saying that this piece measures 6 by 4 feet?? I couldn't imagine drawing something so big!

Thanks for the nice words, guys! And yup, you read that correctly. This piece measures 4 Feet by 6 Feet.

It definitely posed a challenge to find working space, let me tell you. But I made the desicion early on to work that large because I really wanted to capture fine photo-real detail in the piece.

At one point, I had the masonite layed down on my living room floor, and I layed on it as I sketched.

My cat thought this was all quite amusing and would plop himself down on Batman's face or whatever, as I worked. I had to clean paw prints off of the work on more than one occasion.

The thing I probably learned the most from working on this piece is that a good ERASER is every bit as important as good pencils when drawing. It was my eraser that helped me "draw" all of those sharp satiny- leathery highlights on The Batman's cape, mask, gloves, trucks, and boots.

But c'mon guys. Let me see YOUR Bat-artwork!

Raydeen, don't be shy, bro. Post those two beautiful Batman-related sketches you showed me. I know everyone here will love 'em!

Let's make this a Batman Art party!

And Hector, hermano, you are a real artist! Your sharp eye and strong sense of color and design in most impressive. Bravisimo!!!

Your Glastron boat piece particularly struc a chord A) for its beautiful design, and B) because that was the company that fashioned the 1966 Bat-boat!
