I used to hang with people like that. When REM got its big WB contract, they were "sellouts". Never got that mentality that monitary success equates with selling out or a bland product.

    Okay---you got my attention.

Doesn't seem like you're "just saying"

Are you implying---or saying---this is what I'M doing?

to bounce back to "ground zero" for the "next issue"

You're not gunning for me----you're just focusing on things we have a
sharp disagreement about in pop culture/art and having fun with it---it's cool
...it's just opinions about art anyway.

About "never being able to change opinions"---well, that is true
to a large extent---heaven knows all the smart plot choices
explained to me in detail regarding TDK, aren't going to change
my initial vibe I had after one viewing in the theatre...

    however...

I liked a lot about TDK and plan on owning it on DVD (if not
going to the theatre and seeing it there again)---and I get a lot
out of the posts here that deconstruct the plot of such a movie---
the same way I like listening to commentaries on DVDs---
or reading wikipedia entries on movies etc, etc.

That's one of the reasons I like these boards and these threads---
and give respect to opinions from wise posters--

I'm sure I sometimes come off as "flippant" and "easily dismissive" with art
I find poor---or find to be "not as good" as everyone else does
---if so---I am always happy to attempt to give more detsil on my opinions-
--because that's the kinda insight I crave---and it's only fair.

Yeah...I am one of the Guys that knows that know how to push Your Buttons, and can't help Myself from doing it...just to get a rise out of Ya. I mean...I got You to resort to name calling..."lame", and "almighty Bat-Nerd"...so I guess I hit a nerve. Notice I never responded back to those insults though...I just let it go...and said I'm sorry.

As far as the Burton VS. Nolan arguement....heck, We could probably argue til the wee hours of the morning...and never reach an accord...it's just such a totally different take.
Anyway...for what it's worth...I DO respect You, and think You're a decent Guy.
