    money held at customs

has anyone had money held by customs before?

u.s customs returned a packet of mine to uk customs containing a few hundred dollars for a purchase i was making to another member here

the lady assures me i have nothing to worry about, and the potential reciever is in no way shape or form in any trouble, she says all that will happen is my money will be held for a short time while they investigate, when they discover im no relation to osama the money gets returned to me.

she says as it was in cash dollars this was against rules and regulations

makes me look like a chump to the person im buying goods from, and on a side note a few years ago i bought a stun gun from u.s that came sailing through but i cant send cash !

all in favour of the terrorism act 100% and a bag of chips but come on, a few hundred gees

^ Hm...I've never heard of that, but I've never sent that much cash internationally. Perhaps it has to do with the quantity of cash?

...very interesting. Haven't heard that one.

I work with financial intermediaries and we have more and more restrictions and security procedures. We cannot accept cash in any form (no nickels and dimes, please) and also we can only rcv checks from a US Bank. Even money orders and cashier's checks have to be investigated.

Welcome to the future. May I please tatoo a barcode on your forehead?

I think it's probably more related to the drug trade then terrorist stuff.

I seen a TV show a few weeks ago about similar stuff ... Interpol probably has a hand in this.

I can't believe you put that much cash in an envelope and sent it half way round the world.

I think you are very lucky to see it again.

Or a money order, or Western Union, or something. Sending that much cash in the mail is crazy.

I always thought it was illegato send cash in the mail. . .not just here but internationally. But I have sent $10 and $20 cash internationally before. . .usually just stick it in a card to make it look like a birthday gift. You didn't write CASH as the contents or something did you. . .how did they know. B-U-G-G-E-R.
