i think with any repro item, it only decreases value on the vintage in the short term. long term people go back to wanting originals

At a certain point those who desire the originals because of nostalgia will reach a point where they won't be around, and if interest in those items doesn't pass on to the next generation in sufficient numbers, demand will dry up and with it, value. Collectibles' value is demand driven, when demand disappears, so does the value. So in the real long term, there won't be many wanting the originals, or even the reproductions unless interest in the items passes on to future generations in sufficient numbers. A lot of collectibles' values will not outlive those who collect them, especially with younger generations emphasizing experiences over possessing stuff.
