I remember loving to watch it the few times I ever saw it on. . .but my memory of it is very vague. I would want to own a copy though.

They released an episode a few years back on one of the Wonder Woman DVD releases I think...nothing else ever came of that.

Personally, I hope that Shazam isn't tied up in some sort of legal mess like the Batman TV series is. Not to mention the Bionic Shows. I want to see both the live and animated series by Filmation on DVD.
        Cheers.

I think it's a case of Warner's owning the rights. If Filmation's heirs had the rights, we'd have seen it by now. Warner's will probably eventually get around to it, probably when the Shazam movie FINALLY materializes.

Can someone explain to me the whole Warner Brothers rights thing?

I understand that they have exclusive licensing to the characters but does that mean they can block intellectual property that belongs to someone else....I'm sure whoever made the '66 Batman series had proper licensing rights at the time.

I wouldn't be surprised if some type of lawsuit gets filed eventually as I could see this becoming an ongoing problem.

I think in most cases, if Warners farms out something DC-related, they still retain the rights. The one time they didn't was Batman, and that has obviously bitten them in the rear. National/DC actually produced "The Adventures of Superman" show themselves, so there was no one to wrangle with there.

This brings up a question i've often wondered about .....

The Bionic series (Both SMDM and Bionic Woman)

Why were they released on official DVD in England region-2 but not here ?

The owner of them is still the same ....

If there is conflicting interests, why would a deal be struck for R-2 but not the REAL bread and butter region --which is of course region-1 ...

A possibility is that they are not sure if it will make money. Shazam is quite a step down from Batman or Superman. Just sayin..

Of course it will make money. The shows are already made and it wouldn't cost much to place it on a dvd.
