In 7th Grade, the Meatloaf slathered in ketchup was my favorite and my High School served the best Chili Dogs. I would get one every day along with a slice of Garlic Bread that was bigger than your head. My Chili Dogs now come from Tommy's and my Wife makes an amazing Meatloaf, but there is a special spot in my heart for the OG's.
You are transparent; I see many things... I see plans within plans.
There's still places you can purchase the rectangle pizzas that were so good. One place is Guinther's. They sell them in bulk. I've yet to pull that trigger but have been tempted.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.
Hot dogs & beans ("Beans and franks?" as Blanche used to offer).
Frozen hamburgers
Square pizza
American cheese sammiches on square white bread (add yellow mustard)
Hoagies, tho not the basic ones we were served
Meatloaf
REAL macaroni and cheese with the crust on top.
Open faced grilled cheese, bacon and tomato sammiches - A+. I make these every summer when heirloom tomatoes are in season.
But absolutely never chicken croquettes. I tried them once and hated them. But to Mikey's point - they're available frozen. Looks like Goya is top.
And thank you Blanche and Carl (Mr. C) and other folks whose names I don't recall, for the good food and endless patience.
Just slather some Prego's pizza sauce on an english muffin, slather on some mozzarella cheese, over-cook it in the toaster oven. And if you want the real experience, add a pint of chocolate milk!
Like sloppy joes ... I'll often buy some Manwich sauce and ground beef and make myself a good old fashioned sloppy joe.
MIKEY!! Why, oh why did you have to mention Sloppy Joes/Manwich???? Now I've got a hankerin' fer a steamed bun full o' seasoned beefy goodness. Sadly, my kitchen is currently just a shell with a microwave, toaster and fridge. What's a fellow to do?
Oh well, brought back lots of good memories! Our moms staged a coup and took over the lunchroom at our school. The veteran grandma-type crew had retired and the replacements weren't up to snuff. Good eatin' for a couple of years, then back to the lunchbox!
One thing I used to HATE that they would serve us at least every fortnight was a split hotdog stuffed with cheddar cheese and wrapped with a slice of soggy bacon... (with no hotdog bun)
Used to make me throw-up everytime I tried to eat it.
Also, their Salisbury steaks were nasty ... Like they used super-lean London Broil with absolutely no fat whatsoever at all and shaped them like turds ...
Even the bland gravy didn't make it any easier to swallow.
