Where Did Your Frozen Loyalties Lie?

Where did your loyalties fall when you were a kid? I was always a Slurpee kid. The superhero cups dropped during my prime superhero days. Getting my Huffy thunder Road was my passport sweet brain freeze as the local 7-11 was too far to walk.

Do any of you still drink either of these frozen ambrosia?

    WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.

We've never had 7-11 stores here in Kentucky (or anywhere near us), so I missed out on the Slurpee. I always preferred Icees to Slush Puppies, because you invariably drink all the syrup out of a Slush Puppie (or the similar Mister Misty at Dairy Queen) and are left with just ice, much like a Snow Cone. However, in the mid-80s, Shell opened a gas station/convenient store downtown that had a self-serve Slush Puppie machine, and I would squirt about 12 gallons of syrup into each cup, taking care of that problem!

But I still prefer an Icee. We had those at the local Convenient Store. As long as you could get past the cranky old woman at the counter who apparently hated her life, and kids who were always asking her for Icees.

I just pictured young Chris (little body, but adult-sized Chris head of course. And you're wearing a Jay Garrick Flash helmet!) telling the clerk he's almost done as syrup continues to flow over the edges of the cup!

There can be only one. (To this day, this jingle still haunts me.)

Quik Trip is a sweet slush paradise. The Coca Cola slush is heavenly! Tired of finishing your slush only to find that you have 2/3 of a cup full of flavorless ice? Try eating it with a spoon. It's like eating a slushy popsicle and there is no leftover ice.

Slush Puppies for me by default as a kid, since that was more of a neighborhood convenience store thing. Icee was more Kresge's/k-mart, iirc, and I was usually more about getting toys there than anything else. The nearest 711was a bit of a walk for me pre-12 years old so Slurpees werent a regular thing for me until years later as an adult. So that's what I prefer now..though I try my best to cut down on sugar these days so i havent enjoyed one in years, unfortunately.

Slush Puppie. Because that was the one most widely available when I was a kid.
              Still enjoy one occasionally.

Slurpee, because of the 70s comic cups! I bought so many of those. 7-11 was my favorite store because of those and the comic spinner racks.

Icee and Chillie Willie for me. I think they changed the Chillie Willie brand to Slush Puppie later on. Tasty but not as good as Icee! Just one sip of an Icee takes me back to the Short Stop, a paradise of comics, Starlog and Famous Monster mags, novelty candy and ice cream. Coldest place in town during the summer.

No 7-eleven nearby, but the local rich kid let us marvel at his collection of Slurpee superhero cups, though!

                    I'm a Slurpee guy.

7-11 is slowly dying in the states, which is sad, but I prefer Slurpee to Icee.

                    Slush Puppie doesn't even compare.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

I think comics may be why I'm a Slurpee guy, too. Our local Wawa was right next store to our apartment complex, but didn't carry comics. I had to ride my Huffy almost a mile to reach the 7-11. There was a spinner rack and Slurpee machine that made it all worth while!

Loved Slurpees as a kid. There was always a 7-11 around, so it was comic books and Slurpees for me.

Then I discovered Slush Puppies. Game. Over. Especially if you add the Shocker to it to add some tartness.

                        Icees are yuck.
