should health ledger be nominated for a oscar?

will Heath Ledger's amazing performance as the joker be the first and maybe only nomination for an actor in superhero movie genre?

Will it be, I don' know, and Hollywood is so fickle, I'm not sure. Dying certainly will help his case though, if I must be blunt about it.

Should it be? Absolutely. Unless a slew of amazing movies gets released, with epic performances, by all rights he should be a shoo-in for consideration based on his acting alone.

Javier Bardem won last year for Best Supporting Actor...and he was good...no doubt.

But Heath Ledger was even better...so I'll be shocked if he doesn't win...unless like Paul said, someone else comes outta left field with something even more monumental...but to this date, I have not seen any performance that remotely approaches Ledger as the Joker, none.

Yes. If an animated movie can be nominated for best picture, then a deceased Ledger should at least be nominated. Phenomenal performance.

I would love to see his performance not only nominated, but for him to actually win. But judging by past history, it seems unlikely.

I didn't see the movie ... but if an award is ever given for a performance posthumously, I think it would be very suspect.

I would hate to be the people up against a dead guy everyone feels sorry for.

                        Know what I mean ?

dead people don't always win...Spencer Tracy was nominated post-death for Guess Who's Coming to Dinner and he didn't win.

i don't think Ledger will even be nominated, though he should be. i think comic book roles are considered fluff to Oscar voters, plus the character--on purpose--has no arc. he is the crazy madman at the beginning, as he is at the end.

there are no scenes of deep introspection, the stuff that Oscar voters eat up like catnip, so i think he'll get passed by. but i'd love to see him nominated--he's like a grenade in that movie.

                            I think they'll nominate him but I don't think he'll win.

His performance was great, but certainly lent gravitas by his premature passing IMO.

Javier's was mesmerising last year, haven't seen anything close to that yet.

I also think a nomination is a lock. Will have to see what he's up against tho as far as winning.

I think his performance was very good (more amusing to me than "scary"), but I didn't walk out of the theater blown away by it. I mean, I can see what he meant when he said it was such a fun character to play. You just act like a wacko!
