That's very gentlemanly of you to say. For the record, I feel the same regarding your eloquently stated points.

At the risk of continuing our debate (much lamented by other members), I noted that the first suit of kevlar armor only extended to a point above Batman's elbow, mid-way down the tricep. That is what allowed the dog to dig into his arm. Evidently he was not wearing the thin material, which darklord1967 has noted that canine units employ, underneath the kevlar. One may consider this a flaw in the film or simply a choice or oversight on Batman's part. When he replaces the first suit with the second suit, this weakness is actually intensified because the joints are even more exposed.

Great observation! I had not noticed that. I think the argument could be made that this might have been either one of the two things you mentioned... if not both. The screen writers may have overlooked the protective coverage of the replacement suit, OR the "in-universe" explanation may very well have been The Batman's desire for greater mobility led him to make that intentional adjustment to his uniform. I'm pretty sure The Dark Knight was seeking improvements in his outfit on that front (Re: Ability to turn his head, etc.)

Heh, heh, NO thanks! Speaking for myself, I've had more than my fill of going head to head with YOU for fifteen rounds, good buddy.

Besides which, the amount of hours I spent on this debate last week made me fall a bit behind schedule on the Custom 8 inch MEGO-scaled 1966 Batmobile I'm scratch building. And I can think of a few board members who are going to be willing to boil me in hog-fat if I'm late with my next update on the car's progress.

The funny thing about all this is that due to The Bat's use of the Ignore List function, he is completely unaware that this has become a friendly conversation between just about everyone involved.

In many ways, it's almost a social commentary about the (self) destructive nature of intolerance of other views.

Everyone has come to an accord, and it is only the guy who refused to listen to both sides who is unaware of it. He merely assumes we are all still bickering. Priceless!

            The Bat:

See, this is what science-fiction/fantasy/superhero fans do. We analyze minute details. We speculate on possible sequels. We share our opinions and observations. We apply our own knowledge and experience to the events depicted, and assess whether they are convincing and believable. Sometimes we flog dead horses. For days on end, we flog them. But sometimes -- just sometimes -- we actually manage to enlighten ourselves in the process. Sometimes new information comes out of this on-going exchange. Sometimes friends are made, understandings reached, mutual respect achieved. I don't think I'm delusional in stating I think that's what's happened here between darklord1967 and me. (Raydeen1 has yet to prove himself in my eye! )

So go on, tell us to quit horse-flogging; complain we're only trying to get the last word in; suggest we're wasting our time; question our every statement as meaningless, pointless, frivolous. Chime in every three or four posts with [face_sigh] and expressions of disbelief that we're still at it (7 days after this ground-breaking, impactful film has come out, I might add). But in doing all of that, you, sir, are missing the point of what it means to be a SFF fan. The frustrations of on-going debate, yes -- but also the pleasure of stating a point eloquently, the surprise of discovering someone else has a point, the rewards of looking deeply into a work of art or stagecraft or cinema. In your terse dismissals, you are missing all of this, plus one more thing: fun.

              Good googa-mooga!

I could NOT have said that any better myself... even in my wildest (and longest-winded) dreams.

I just hope The Bat doesn't decide to place YOU on his ignore list since you are likely suggesting something he does not wish to hear... despite the wisdom and eloquence of your words.

And I'll be more than happy to CONFIRM for you, buddy, that you are most certainly NOT delusional when you state that a mutual understanding and respect exists between us.

If fact, in my eyes, it was forged LONG before this Bale armor / voice debate. I think our lengendary verbal sparring during the paranormal debates started it all.

Sorry Darklord....but I use to post on Superhero Hype.com...and those Guys really ware out Your tolerence level for bickering(especially on the subject of Batman....because nothing is as near, and dear to My Heart).

I'm glad to see the tone of this tread has canged...and I really liked Your post in the "Aaron Eckhart aka Harvey Dent " thread.
I just couldn't stand to hear You bash Bale...as I've waited so , so MANY years for them to cast a BATMAN that I'm completely happy with...and in My Eyes, They've finally DONE IT! I hope You understand...that I can't distance Myself from these feelings...I'm just so happy with direction My favorite Character is going in. The Dark Knight...is a dream come true to Me!

BTW...as You can see...I've removed You from My ignore list.

Well this is good to see. I hate to see Batman/Mego fans not get along.

Obviously we are all passionate abuot the character. Batman has been my favorite since I can remember. I have picture I drew of him when I was 2 or 3. He has always been my "guy". I have books, toys, you name it. No other character, fictional or otherwise ever captured my imgination more.

I am honestly happy so many are enjoying this franchise. I wish I could join in the fun but as I said, I can't even look at the suit or mask let alone something like making the Joker a poor imitation of the Crow (IMO). I could be missing the best Batman movie ever. I could end up kicking myself but I just can't get past the look. As soon as I saw the Joker months ago, I was done. I knew then I wouldn't pay money to see this movie. Perhaps if I look at like an Elseworlds story I might be able to enjoy it.

My intent on entering this thread was merely to ***** and complain that I was disappointed. Not to cause hard feelings. We all love Batman and we all have differing opinions. This would be a mighty boring place if we all agreed on everything.

Bat, no hard feelings here Bro. I guess we all (well 4 of us maybe) got a little carried away but I think DarkLord and Vortigern made excellent points for both sides (if there were sides).

And for the record, "I" am not bashing Bale. I'm bashing the entire franchise.
