Visiting Chicago in Sept. what should I see?

    Hey guys

My wife's sister is married to Marty Booker, former Dolphins receiver now back with the Bears, and she's having her baby in September so my wife and I are going to visit between the 23rd and 29th.

I really want to go see the Michael Jordan statue in front of the arena and a few more places, any recommendations? I'd love to see any Gangsters 1920's places if there's such a thing or some of the must see places of this wonderful city, any help will be appreciated

and by the way this will be my first time on a plane!!

Everything Starbuck said, and you absolutely MUST eat some true Chicago Style Pizza. Man, I miss good pizza.

Places to Go, Things to Do.

That's awesome about the Marty Booker connection. He's one of my all-time favorite Bears and I've actually got his jersey. As a matter of fact, I'm looking at myself wearing it while playing with my daughter in a picture I keep on my desk at work. Needless to say, it made my season when I heard he was coming back. Good stuff!

I'm not real hip to the gangster scene, daddy-o, so I'm not much help on that front. Still, there are a lot of great things to see in Chicago. A couple that haven't been mentioned yet:

              The Art Institute

Millennium Park and the giant reflective "Bean"

Wrigley Field Tour - I don't know the Cubs' schedule off hand, but on the days they're not in town you can take a tour of the stadium. They take you into the clubhouse, the dugout, the sky boxes, down on the field, etc. It's absolutely incredible.

The Field Museum of Natural History - Someone mentioned the Museum of Science and Industry, but I've always enjoyed this one more. Huge dinosaurs, the lions from the movie "The Ghost and the Darkness," plus a bunch of other cool stuff.

The Adler Planetarium - It's right next to the Shedd Aquarium, so you can basically do a twofer. Plus, it's always fun to giggle like a schoolgirl when you come across the sign "Discovering Uranus."

There's a great architectural tour of the city that's done by boat. They take down the Chicago river and point out important buildings. I haven't done it, but my Dad did and absolutely loved it.

Lincoln Park Zoo - Someone mentioned Brookfield Zoo, but if you'd rather stay in the city, this one is pretty decent. It's much smaller, but you'll still have a grand old time.

United Center - You said you wanted to see the Jordan statue, this is where it is. I wouldn't spend a lot of time there since it's not in the greatest of neighborhoods and there isn't a game going on. Get in, get out, get gone.

I'm sure I can think of some more places to see, but not knowing where you're staying or what your budget allows makes it kind of a crapshoot. Feel free to drop me an e-mail at [email protected] if you have any questions about anything.

                    Sept is nice in Chicago.
If you have time go up to Six flags. Gurney Mills mall is huge!! They are close to each other. There is a hard rock cafe in Chicago. Shopping on Michigan Ave is interesting to say the least. The Navy pier rocks too. There are museums and aquariums. Pretty much whatever you feel up to.
                    Have fun.

The American Girl Doll store....just kidding.

Actually, there is an awesome Italian restaurant called Maggiano's in downtown. They have great food and I swear the people that work there look like they are affiliated with the mob.
