    James Caan RIP

Talk about a legend of the silver screen -- this man did it all! His accolades are endless! While he was unbelievably incredible as Sonny in "The Godfather," fantastic in "Brian's Song" and "Rollerball," I will forever remember him in "Misery." It was his performance/character that actually allowed Kathy Bates to shine so incredibly and nab the Academy Award that year. The guy was just a brilliant actor both in movies and on TV. I never knew he turned down the role of Han Solo in "Star Wars." As great as Harrison Ford was in that role, we can only be left to wonder what if..............

James was 82. What a great career -- what a great actor! He should have won the Academy Award for "Godfather." At least he won an Emmy Award.

My family knows him best for "Elf". Maybe not what he'd like to be remembered for, but with that airing endlessly every Christmas season, that helped him reach another level of immortality.

But yeah, Godfather and Misery are of course more prestigious performances.

My uncle had a great story. He was president of the Peppermill Hotel and Casino in the 90's. He would get in early and workout in the hotel's gym every morning. One morning he was working out and didn't have his glasses on and kept looking at one of the other guys working out and finally went over to him and said "you probably hear this all the time but you look a lot like James Caan". And the guy replies "yeah, I do, because I AM James Caan!". My uncle was ****ed that they didn't tell him Caan was staying with them so he could welcome him to the hotel.
