i feel bad for her, i really do. But i do not think it is right that they are asking her fans to donate money to her. If people want to give, that is their prerogative, but IMHO it's wrong for them to be asking. they have already raised some serious coin too

That said, her dementia makes me want to take a step back and review the situation as a whole.

Before I donated anything, i'd like to find out if my money is actually going to her welfare.

Wow, what a mess. I would have to dig really deep into this before considering on donating. Chances are this is legit, but obviously the Bell guy is trying to spin it the other way.

I just feel sorry for Nichelle and others who live their final years in something like this. Just yesterday I heard of another story of elderly Stan Lee, bascially asleep on his feet at a comic convention, forced to sign autographs like some kind of machine.

Just awful.

That is incredibly sad. Who would even want a signature from him in that state? Autographs mean very little to me unless there's a positive memory to go with it.
I never got to meet Stan, but always said if I did, I'd ask him for nothing, and simply thank him for all the joy Marvel comics brought to my life.

it is terribly sad to see anyone taken of advantage of, but in a lot of ways it is even worse when it is someone who is a cultural icon, like Nichelle and like Stan Lee.
