    Oscars 2022..."Dune"

Thanks to Hector for the heads up!

'Dune' wins 6 Oscars at Academy Awards

Interplanetary war in the far future made a colossal splash at the 94th Academy Awards ceremony last night at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood as director Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" took home six of the coveted gold trophies.

The most highly-awarded film of the evening, but no awards in the major categories.

it's not surprising none of the major awards. the academy has never liked SciFi and fantasy films. it takes an extraordinary film like Return of the King to break those barriers. Don't get me wrong, i though Dune was a brilliant movie and with amazing and beautifully shot scenes, but not a huge cultural milestone like LOTR's was

Cinematography is a major award, the second biggest for me in fact (after Best Picture). Without cinematography, there’s no picture, period.

I was shocked Best Cinematography was not televised. That’s why the Oscars suck more and more by the year.

Why in the heck do they nominate 10 movies? Especially since 90% of them SUCK!!

Dune should’ve won Best Picture. But no, they gave it to a little low budget TV like movie that hardly anyone saw about a deaf family. Obviously a politically correct pick. In protest, I will never ever watch that movie. Of course I have nothing against deaf people, I have a dear family member who is, but that’s not even my point. It’s just all that Hollywood hypocrisy of spreading the Oscars to everybody.

Anyway, I hope the Oscars are cancelled forever. They are becoming more and more irrelevant by the year.

The Oscars tarted taking a nosedive when Crash won Best Picture.

Crash is the most condescending movie I’ve ever seen in my life.

Yes, I can be specific. Regardless of what you think of the Oscars or media politics, it's ridiculous for you to refuse to see a film for those reasons. Dismissing something out hand like that opens you up to ridicule: How does closed-mindedness or emotion compensate for pandering?

I say, see a film and then dismiss it, or appreciate it, upon how you perceive its entertainment/artistry. If you can't stomach its director or cast, etc aforehand, at least that's honest.

My time is too precious to waste on crap. I’m not remotely interested watching that movie, zero.

My extremely sick loved one needs my full help and attention, 24/7. 10 years and counting. That’s my number one focus in life right now.

                Frack that movie.

Ridicule from others can kiss my arze.

And I have noticed you have been on my arze for quite some time now. You never respond to me in a positive manner, always criticizing. I don’t even know why. I have always had your back for years, but for some unknown reason unbeknownst to me, you have turned on me.

That’s the main reason I blocked you from private messages.

I don't have any "problem" with you Hec, I didn't realize I was only supposed to agree with you. Also didn't realize I was blocked.

Maybe I have become more negative, or maybe you have, IDK. Maybe I assumed it was playful razzing because you can come on strong, and I like to be the devil's advocate sometimes. But I've never disliked you. At any rate. I'll bow out and back off--sorry.

And I'm a caregiver, too. It's stressful, I understand and maybe this forum should just be a place of respite to vent. If that's what you intended and I engaged you differently, again I'm sorry.

I’m sorry for my rant directed at you. I didn’t know you were in a similar situation. Yeah, man, that stuff sucks.

These are stressful times. Sick loved ones. The pandemic. The invasion upon the Ukrainian people. The thought of WW3 is terrifying.

Also let me apologize to Makernaut as well. It was not my intention to sidetrack his thread. I’m sorry.

Yes, you are right, I do seem to come strong at times, but it’s mostly done in jest. Sometimes that doesn’t translate well on print.

This place should be a place to relax from the sometimes ugliness of the real world.

I do follow the rules of no-political talk. But I should follow some of my own, and that’s not too take things so seriously and just chill, relax, and have a good time here.

Buddy, we are good. No problems. No need for you to walk on eggshells with me. If I deserve it, let me have it, lol.

And for all it’s worth, ultimately, you were right. It was narrow-minded of me to have dismissed a movie without even watching it. I agree with your sentiments.

Now I’m obligated to watch CODA. I’ll probably still hate it, but I’ll give it a try…

Thank you, Hec--much appreciated, and perhaps I had only been commenting when I disagreed with you. That can seem personal but wouldn't be intentional on my part, just too blunt/terse. You're right about communicating online.

If I disliked you, I'd not post at all . And I do remember your support. Except about Capt. Marvel lol. We're good, yes.

The man plays with dolls, how’s that mature? unless the doll is 5’ 8” with blonde hair, blue eyes and a curvy hour glass figure.
