Always a very underrated actor, Mitchell was best known for doing the show "Dark Shadows" "Dharma and Greg" and playing the villain in "Lethal Weapon." He was excellent alongside Gary Busey in that movie! This guy stayed busy in acting for decades. He just never quite hit the big time. He was always an excellent character actor. Mitchell was 88.

He was great in the early Dark Shadows episodes as Burke Devlin. I'm really sorry they had to let him go due to his drinking problem of the time. He of course rebounded and had a great career. He was Jim Carrey's boss in "Liar, Liar", and also the voice of Highfather on the animated Justice League.
He participated in the Dark Shadows cast reading of A Christmas Carol a few months back. It might have been the last project he worked on, which I suppose is fitting.
