Funny, I just saw that on BBC news and was thinking the exact same thing.

        Interesting.

I'm not much of a beer drinker because of the carbs and calories but just recently gave Beck's Light a try and thought it was pretty good considering it was only 67 calories or something like that. Inbev owns Beck's.

First thing I thought, too. Thomas' peeps make some of the best beer in the world. I spent two days there, just going from brewery to brewery, beer to beer.

At least I think it was two days.

I hope they still keep the Busch family around for commercials. Their creepy family portraits and wooden delivery would be missed, at least by me.

They will not change the flavor of Bud...the people who like it are already used to the watery stuff. I'm talking from personal experience. On this one BBQ I threw...I cooked for these softball friends of mine who only drink Bud. Well, I stacked the cooler with nothing but imported stuff instead. Care to take a guess how they reacted? They hated my beer...they immediately took a quick trip to the supermarket, and bought themselves a case of Bud, lol.

Sorry, but if people have been programmed to like ****...they will continue drinking **** no matter what, lol.

Expect to see more and more American icons go away and become internationalized. Globalization is good... for some. Sorry, maybe too political for a beer thread!

                        Inaccurate statement.

Yes, the mayor breweries in America for the most part suck, it's extra pale lager by the millions of liters...mass consumption stuff.

However, and this you probably don't know, America is also home of many world-class micro-breweries, their beers rival anything Europe has to offer. The reason of course is that most of these smaller micro-breweries were founded by Europeans from Germany, Belgium, Ireland, and so on. We have master brewers who make good quality stuff.

                        Case in point...

                        Anchor Brewing:

                        Welcome to Anchor Brewing

The history of Anchor Steam (founded by Germans):

Anchor Steam - Our History I

                        The beers:

Anchor Steam - Anchor Steam Beer
                        Anchor Steam - Liberty Ale
                        Anchor Steam - Anchor Porter
                        Anchor Steam - Summer Beer
                        Anchor Steam - Old Foghorn
Anchor Steam - Anchor Small Beer
                        Anchor Steam - Bock Beer
                        Anchor Steam - Special Projects

Not exactly the picture of American beer you had in mind, eh?

New Belgium brewery in Fort Collins Colorado Brew some really tasty beers.
I love the Sunshine Wheat, and also Fat Tire is pretty popular.
                          http://www.newbelgium.com

But then again it is new "Belgium", so credit where credit is due.

Hector is right though, there are many small "micro-breweries" that are quite flavorfull. The Big guys mostly suck though. Except for Milwaukee's Best from Miller. Yummy

Not counting the micro-breweries-based beers...the best nationally distributed beer in the USA is Samuel Adams...it's a solid beer.

I highly doubt this will change anything as far as flavor goes, but maybe importing Belgian beers into the US will go easier now, so you guys can taste more of what we're brewing over here
