Arnold, Van Damme, Seagal, Stallone, Diesel...they are all in movies...why not Will Smith? Smith is a better actor than all those other action starts put together.

Men In Black was fun.
Wild Wild West was actually fun.
ID4 is one of the worst piles of crap I've ever witnessed. That movie should be wiped from existence.
Pursuit of Happyness was actually a very good movie and I thought he was excellent in it but I will never watch it again. Just too damned depressing.
I like him somewhat. I liked him best in MIB I think.Comment

I've never understood what was so terrible about Independance Day. I had fun with it. They blew up everything in grand fashion. And either way, I don't see what he had to do with ruining it any more than Jeff Goldblum's exceptionally Jeff Goldblummy performance. This profile is no longer active.Comment

I am Legend was one of my all-time favourite books.
And then came Smith's movie, with the CGI zombies.
Give me Chuck Heston anytime...
Isaac Asimov is one of my favourite authors.
And then came I Robot, which had virtually nothing to do with the story except the title. Everything that made that a great story was dropped for more action scenes.
It's like remaking Schindler's List, but with added car chases and exploding Zeppelins.
Independence Day, a movie with more (plot) holes in it than my left sock. Punching out aliens? The President fighting the aliens in, what was it, a bi-plane?
I'm sorry to disagree, guys.
I honestly like Will Smith. I just think he shouldn't be in movies...
I thought ID4 was a GREAT movie, as well as "I am Legend" & "I, Robot". Judging a movie on the book it is based on will let you down every time.
He is a great actor and puts everything into his character. He has been nominated for an Oscar and will win one before all said and done.sigpicComment

Like I said...you can hate on Smith's movies, that's fine...you don't like him, you don't like him...I have nothing against that opinion.
But when someone says he shouldn't be in movies, to me that is just plain hateful, period.
Why shouldn't he be in movies?
Will Smith is a good-looking guy, has decent acting chops, the audiences for the most part love him, and he brings monster numbers at the box office...like him or not, he's a bona fide superstar.
Now tell me again...why shouldn't he be in movies?sigpicComment

The guy is awesome!!! I liked nearly everything he has made. ID4 was one of the more entertaining movies I haVE SEEN AND LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT. I really enjoyed Hancock...I didn't go in with over expectations, and really enjoyed it. I read a lot of the negative reviews so I was prepared for the worst, but it wasn't needed.
Will Smith is a fun actor, with a great smart *** attitude. MIB is perfect for his natural character. If you don't like him I can't imagine who measures up to your high standards.
Action stars like
Tom Cruz? Arnald? Van Dam? Stalone? blah blah blah.....
I truly enjoy Wills' July movies. Keep up the good work.Comment

No one has mentioned Ali, which is a very good if not great film. Smith certainly acquits himself nicely in the acting department; if anyone still believes Will can't act, I suggest giving his turn in Ali a chance.
I like Will, even if his movie choices tend to have a mass-audience appeal that favors blandness over brilliance. His films are just as good as they need to be without being truly exceptional -- except MIB, the aforementioned Ali, and Six Degrees of Separation.Comment
