    Official Classic Outhouse Thread

Back in the day -- early-80's- we had a fine classic outhouse

Had in-door plumbing etc, but our outhouse still got some use --- mostly during outside events (July 4th) etc.

One time--- Out of the blue, a local college girl came knocking at my door

Said she was doing a report about local outhouses and wanted the photograph mine

    I said SURE !!!

    She took her pics

Was a total gent--- which I always am

Just wondering, 30-40 years later --- did my outhouse help her report ? --- wish to think so

DID YOU HAVE AN OUTHOUSE ???

No, we didn't have an outhouse: However, when we took drives/day trips, there were the old fashioned waysides (called 'rest-stops' nowadays) where they had what were kind of glorified outhouses... Big pits in the ground, with bottomless toilets setting on the concrete floor... I would imagine they probably had them pumped out or something every so often. These waysides also had the old pumps if you wanted a drink of water-No bubblers (ie 'water fountains') then...

        ^ --- Remembering like 20--ish years ago

Was on a road-trip across the USA with buds

Just left Denver on our way to Utah

Rest areas all had open pit outhouses

Crazy deep … like if you lost your wallet down there just say goodbye forever

Yep, that sounds like the type I'm talking about... It's been so long since I took any road trips/vacations, but it wouldn't surprise me if some of those type still exist along the less travelled roads/highways.

We had only an outhouse until I was in 2nd grade or so.

I sorta have one by my pool. I hated having to walked out to the back half of my yard (I own an acre) where the pool is just to walk back up to use the bathroom. So did what a friend did and added a 2 toilet rooms that do connect in with the plumbing. My nephew gets a kick out of using them.

Am always wary of Racoon and ANY varmint meat (even if it seems ok) --- Rabies and all that.

Heck, round these parts (NE PA USA) you need to worry about infected different deer diseases.

To keep your loved beloved safe, your best bet is to buy your meat at your local FDA approved supermarket.

Possum is your best bet to avoid rabies. Extremely high resistance to rabies and tick borne illnesses.

Never checked that out but I prefer my own safety guidelines …

Eat what the USDA say's is safe

How did we go from talking about outhouses to talking about roadkill?
