Do you tip your service workers on Christmas ?

My Ma taught me, if you want GREAT service from your service workers throughout the year all it cost's is a nice Christmas tip.

Trash guys, Drive Way plow-guy, Post Master (if in a small town), Mayor (if in a small town), Police (if in a small town) Handyman, etc.

Slip them all a $10-$20-spot with a Merry Christmas and Thanks...

We tip our mail carrier and garbage man. I'd tip the other delivery folks, but it's never the same people!

Just had a crazy-nutty thought speaking of Christmas tips ….

Anybody else here old (or rural) enough to remember your local "milk man" ?

He delivered glass bottled milk from his little truck once a week.

Gosh-Dang, the above dates me bigtime

Were we are there are not to many restruants where you need to tip but when we do we tip better closer to Christmas.

Out local Mail person we give them a Christmas Card with cash in it. I give them enough business with packages it just feels right.

I do not have that much trash anymore due to recycling, so it takes about a month or longer to build up and then we take it to the my parents Church to put in the dumpster.

Besides Blues festivals, we have a relativity close (Stone-Henge) themed park that many people stop at (on interstate 80) …

I give the mailman a small gift. I have a longer driveway and talk to him every few weeks when I notice him coming and walk down to get the mail. I don't really know anyone else, so I don't tip them. We have a loud dog so they tend to be quiet when approaching the house.

I don't remember a milk man, but in Philly I was a fan of the Charles Chips guy.

I'm not even sure if it's legal to tip the police... Yeah, they deserve one for dealing with the undesirables/criminal element they have to put up with on a daily basis, but I'd almost think it could be seen as an attempted bribe, not matter how well intended it was.

There's a service around here called Schwan's that you can order stuff like milk, juice, and other food goods: I believe they deliver once a week. They drive around delivering in off-yellow trucks with a swan painted on the side...

The mail carrier here is usually the same one, but there's times he'll be gone for a bit and there are fill-ins... They all do an okay job and all, but if I were to tip them, I'd want the tip to go to the one that's usually the carrier...

                    .
Probably not technically legal in most bigger towns and cities …

But 'round these parts we have a Chief and two Deputies (who have to share a car)

Don't think the United States Department of Justice will be sniffing around (anytime soon) looking for Duncan Donuts (Merry Christmas) gift cards

                      You live in Mayberry?

Sounds like your local police force would consist of Andy, Barney, and the second deputy can be Gomer sworn in for a special assignment.

                        You are about right

Last year we had a heck of a winter --- trees down, electric off etc....

Our Mayor led the chainsaw squad of getting them branches off the wires and getting our electric back.

                        Hands on Gent

                        Like everybody round here

I used to always get a great gift for the mail carrier because he was a swell guy and I got a lot of packages that he always took care of. For some reason a few years back they changed to a rotating worker so it’s li different people each week, sometimes different people several times a day. It’s odd but it makes this gesture pointless now because I might end up giving a gift to someone who has never been here before or never will be again.

A robot gets the trash so that’s out.

And there are no other services I get.

I miss it but what can ya do.

My main tip peeps are …

My apartment manager (great lady who has a newborn -- sweet lady -- gotta tip her)

Apartment senior handyman (Only dude I consider a best friend and we both don't speak the same language --- everything is hand-signals ang generic sound expressions like (oye-vey, Aye yai yai, and whaaaaaaaaaaa? ) --- loved him for years

Mayor--- Dunkin Donuts gift card works great and it's not REALLY payola

                            Same with Chief of Police

                            Lastly Post Master

Everybody else is revolving peeps I don't know.

I'm all about paying it forward and giving generously both financially and with my words but I never thought about "tipping" service workers especially when many aren't allowed to accept tips. My dad used to leave tip the garbage men when he knew he was on the borderline of dumping off too much.
