While I don't consider movie versions of classic tv shows as "remakes" it seems that many people here do. So I offer "The Avengers" as the 2nd worst remake after "Planet of the Apes" of course.

THIS was an odd one, since it was sort of a mishmosh of the book, and the 1954 movie. Most of what I didn't like about it had little to do with it being a remake. Stuff like dad and son arguing all the time; and SON being right. (He DID make it home first.) And them blowing up a tripod at the end. Sure, it's got the original "destroyed by the most insignificant of beings" end BUT they HAD to let the humans get a shot in. Futile as it was since the tripod was already dying. But they HAD to throw it in....

          Don C.
To be fair in the book an artillery unit and the H.M.S. Thunderchild both managed to bring down a tripod...so that part is at least kinda faithful to the book....however I hate the movie....it feels wrong. There was another movie out at the same time made by Pendragon ...it was very low budget BUT it is very accurate to the book...http://www.pendragonpictures.com/....however the acting and special effects are ...lets say awful...it is identical to the book and at 3 hours long is a strain to watch due to the lack of money spent on it.

I can put up with most remakes as there have been cases where I haven't seen the original. The one remake that stands out like a big pile of horse manure is Thunderbirds, man, they could not have made that movie any worse. I'm surprised Gerry Anderson never keeled over after seeing it, that must have been a major kick in the balls for him. How anyone could ruin a perfectly good series and characters is beyond me.

That was always on rocky ground when I heard that they never even asked him to have anything to do with it when it was being made....it's a pity because it could have been such a good franchise.

Do not mock the genius that is Larry Buchanan! Actually yeah, AIP for some reason wanted to remake their own movies in colour for even less money. I find the whole series (which also includes 3 more remakes) utterly hypnotic.....

In the Year 2889 is a remake of a Corman post nuke film which name escapes me.
Creature of Destruction is a remake of the She Creature.

Curse of the Swamp Creature may be original but just as cheap.

Mars Needs Women has Yvonne Craig!

It's Alive! might be a remake of something too but I forget, it's monster is lamentable.

I like most of Buchanans work for that reason, it's almost hypnotic at times, the production and pacing are awful and most of the cast seems to be under acting.
