Toys R Us last two U.S. Stores are closing

The only Toys R Us stores left in the United States are closing. I didn't know they were still open, but they are closing for good.

They were reopened stores from an attempted relaunch

I honestly never knew that relaunch ever happened. Very sad, but not surprising.

They weren't real TRU stores. Some of the investors wrangled the name, promised a big "comeback" and then opened up 2 stores that were nothing like TRU. They basically carried nothing and were there so that you try out toys and buy them online. I likened it to less the return of TRU but someone digging up TRU's corpse and parading it's very lifeless rotting body around town while shouting "Look I'm back and better than ever" behind them while everyone looks and stares in disgust.

But what I really want to know is: do you think that corpse deserves its own thread?

At least the Canadian ones are still around. Looking forward to going back to the two on Vancouver Island. Nanaimo and Victoria. Gotta share the experience with my kids so they know how it feels. Won't be like the 70s and 80s but close enough.

They got further than KB Toys in their comeback.
