Let's face it, most of us did not grow up in on home decked out to full 70s crazy. That said, a lot us of did have some very-70s furnishings. What type of furniture invaded your childhood living room back in the day?
We lived almost exclusively in apartments in the 70s, so we didn't have a lot of rooms to fill. The living room, for as long as I can remember, was filled with the same set. It was made of cheap wood with veneers carved or shaped to look like midcentury Spanish revival. We had matching faux wrought iron lamps with that sat on matching hexagonal end tables, giving off a warm amber glow from behind plastic panels. I was fascinated with the V-shaped door on those end tables. Fortunately (?), our apartments were usually white, so the dark wood furniture wasn't lost inside the wood paneling, clashing wall patterns or forest worth of indoor plants of the day. I swear some of the pieces in this ad were my living room.
BTW, I just learned today that "Cal-Style" referred to those organically-shaped ceramics with brown and orange swirling about. We also had those plates and mugs with the tan edges melting into dark browns. Cal-Style.
