Laurel & Hardy or Charlie Chaplin

Who tickles your funny bone more out of the above? I'm a big fan of Laurel & Hardy, their short comedies never cease to make me laugh. No matter how many times I watch them. As much as I've tried to like Charlie Chaplin, for the life of me, I just can't get into his comedy. It's always bored me to tears.

It's always puzzled me how Chaplin became more revered than L&H, not to mention Harold Lloyd and Buster Keaton as well.

I think I was like 19 when I saw Chaplin for the first time and pleasantly surprised at the humour and his stunt like skills in his acting. It was far more sophisticated than i had anticipated.

I recall seeing some L & H growing up. . .but nothing that left a lasting impression on me.

I like them all, but in my opinion, Chaplin was a genius (Keaton too).

Definitely Chaplin. It's not just his humor. He added more than that to his movies. I do like Keaton and Lloyd, as well as L&H, though.

Aside from Buster Keaton's The General...there are no other movies of its genre that can seriously compete with Chaplin's films in terms of significance...I'm really taken at back at all these anti-Chaplin sentiments...I almost find them offensive.

I do prefer Laurel & Hardy (perhaps because they were talkies)...but that doesn't mean I should disrespect the great Chaplin.

I dig Chaplin for his comedy and his radical philosophical positions, but L&H are my favorite since the beginning

Although rarely mentioned, Harry Langdon was one of the great silent film comedians too (not in Chaplin's league though).

I admire Chaplin's artistry but laugh more at Laurel and Hardy.

As far a silent comedians go I prefer Harold Lloyd and Buster Keaton to Chaplin.
