From US to Canada is usually between 1 and 2 weeks ......

Brian is only a couple of hundred miles away from me, but it still takes a week or 2 if I send him a package

On the other hand, I send something to Calif (thousand miles away) ... and it takes 3 days

yeah that's an awful long time,I'm in Miami which is probably as far from Brian as you can be and I've received stuff from him with in 10 days

I guess the packages get hung-up/delayed in customs.

Well, it may not matter as far as being delayed goes. However, I could be completely wrong as to why the packages always take longer. Part of the reason I say this is because often when I ship via Airmail to Europe the package arrives in a weeks time.

I don't know. Packages and letters shipped from here tend to arrive in 5-7 days. Second package from Brian that took 5-6 weeks. I did loose my first piece of mail recently. Sent a card to Kinostadt in MN that got lost. (Probably washed away in the floods!)
