    Unleaded vs Super Unleaded gas

Yo guys! Someone told me i'm foolish for filling up my tank with unleaded because he claims in the long run Super unleaded lasts longer. But with the high prices i cant afford super all the time. Question is between unleaded & Super whats really the difference besides price?

What do you guys use? Also what are you paying for gas now? And where are you?

I'm in Las Vegas Nevada - paid 4.09 today for unleaded. Some stations as high as 4.27 though!

i'm paying 4.55 for unleaded 87 in the bay area , california. the main difference actually depends from car to car. some cars run better on the higher octane, less pinging or knocking from the engine. other cars are fine with the 87. depends on the manufacturer recommendation or your own personal experience with your vehicle. super unleaded doesnt last longer than regular unleaded.

My truck get's the cheapest gas there is .........

High-test is just a ripoff --- most people are getting wise to this now-a-days.

Buying high-test is like flushing your money down the ****ter.

First check your owners manual to see what gas is recommended, most car egines are made to run on reg unleaded gas, so unless you hopped up the engine with a lot of go fast parts reg unleaded will be fine, I drive an 85 corvette and i use reg unleaded gas and it runs fine buy the way gas is 3.99 for the cheap stuff

My local gas station had unleaded at $3.97.

Check the owner's manual and use the lowest grade recommended. Some engines do require the higher octaine fuel but if not 87 is perfectly fine and will not lesson the life of your vehicle or give you worse fuel economy.

Best thing you can do is make sure you keep up to date with regular maintenance like oil changes and tune ups, keep your tires inflated to the proper pressure, go at the prescribed speed limit and avoid hard stops and quick starts.

I buy the cheapest stuff I can. When gas was cheaper I used to run a tank of the the super unleaded through my truck once every month or so. I was told it would help the engine.

As stated you should put would your owner's manual reccomends - the is most often 87 octane

putting higher octane gas only helps cars that are designed to run on it - other cars it can actually damage the car overtime. if you have an 87 octane car and it runs better on 90 - get rid of the car. the octane boost is making up for bad seals etc. so you are actually loosing gas.

as far as cost goes super is relatively cheaper now. It was twenty cents more when gas was a buck (20% more than reg) now it is still twenty cents more at $4/gal (5% more)
