WASHINGTON - Tim Russert, NBC News’ Washington bureau chief and the moderator of “Meet the Press,” died Friday after a sudden heart attack at the bureau, NBC News said Friday. He was 58.
Russert was recording voiceovers for Sunday’s “Meet the Press” program when he collapsed, the network said. He and his family had recently returned from Italy, where they celebrated the graduation of Russert’s son, Luke, from Boston College.

Shocking. One of the non-pretty boys in News. I listened to him for his intelligent insight on politics.

Well, when I go, I rather have a heart attack than get stricken by cancer.

I liked the guy, he was a solid news reporter...RIP.

                  It say's on Wiki .........

An autopsy was ordered to be performed to determine the cause of death

Why must they cut the guy open and look at his brain to determine why he died ?

He died of a heart attack --- what's so unusual about that.

IMO, autopsies are used way too much lately for no reason.

Don't cut the man up ...........

Let him die with some dignity

Wow! I just read this before stopping in here at the Museum and I was stunned! Absolutely stunned! I watched Tim every Sunday morning on "Meet the Press", much to the chagrin of the wife and kids. Very sad news! RIP Mr. Russert...you'll be sorely missed.

I thought everybody gets an autopsy when they died.

Heart attack is the estimated cause but Tim Russert's symptoms point to another possibility: a blood clot that traveled to his lungs. That can take you out really quick.

Something that is sad and ironic was the time he died. It is near Father's day and Tim wrote 2 great books about Fathers, first his own (who is still alive and in his 80's) and then other Fathers whose children wrote in to him about. He may have been a news man but he was a part time press agent for the greatness of Fathers.

I'm pretty sure autopsies are only done when foul play is suspected -- or the family requests it.

'Round here they're SOP for everyone, although they don't do a real thorough one uless there's some question about the death. That being suspected murder or mysterious circumstances.

So.... what scares me is: who's gonna replace him? (Hopefully Jack Black is busy....)
