    Iron Maiden anyone?

A guy I work with gave me a cd yesterday with a mix of Iron Maiden (burned mixture) and it took me back.

I saw Iron Maiden (somewhere in Time tour) in Montreal Canada back in the 80's. It was the first big production concert I had ever been to and I was simply blown away especially when the 10-12' Eddie came stomping around on the stage and the music was amazing especially when they did the Rhyme of the Ancient mariner which is one of the songs on the disk my buddy gave me.

Anyway, I still love Maiden and heard they were touring again!?

    Anyone else into Maiden?

When I was in Jr. high I used to make $5 each selling pen and ink drawings to kids at my school. The girls all wanted E.T. the boys all wanted Eddie...I never really took to them, though.

I used to love these guys! I saw 'em in '86 on the Powerslave tour. Almost every day in '85-'86 I would come home from school and listen to Die with Your Boots On, Flight of Icarus (both on Piece of Mind) and 2 Minutes to Midnight (on Powerslave). Best pre-Metallica metal band, IMO. Bruce Dickinson has THE voice.

                One of my favorites!!!

Iron Maiden (and my own curiosity) pushed me to figure out the significance of literary or historical references within their lyrics. At the time, Metal was consistently getting a bad-rap from media/authority figures and frequently labeled E-ville. Whatever. All I know is, my appreciation of Iron Maiden was definitely not wasted time.

Iron Maiden is one of the best metal bands of their time. Anything before Bruce Dickinson or during the time he exited the band sucked.
Since he has returned to Iron Maiden as the front man again, the band has returned to the reigns of their greatness.
My favorite Iron Maiden album is probably Piece of Mind or Number of the Beast. Anything from that era is pretty good also.

I remember a few years ago when they rereleased The Trooper here as a single (to celebrate Bruce back in the band)...they were on top of the pops and had hoards of maiden fans flood the studio.....every one else got soundly boo'd except one other band who had the presence of mind to go on stage wearing Maiden t-shirts.....lmao...all these "supposed" hard rappers shi**ing themselves on stage being boo'd by rabid HM fans....a memory that lives on

I totally agree with you 100%.Everything they did with Bruce on vocals up until his departure was nothing less than excelence.I despise D'anno(or however you spell that turd's name)There are good songs on the 1st 2 albums though & I love how some have been re-recorded with the dominant lineup. For years, with all of the reissued & rereleased albums I thought it would be cool if they went back & re-recorded them.

They've written songs about an astounding variety of topics. Like:

-WW2 Spitfire pilots (Aces High, one of the best songs EVER!)
-Nostradamus (Die With Your Boots On)
                              -Minamoto Musashi (Sunlight and Steel)
-The Doomsday Clock (2 Minutes to Midnight)

                              Don C.
