    Post Office...What gives??!!??

I know it's Christmas...but they haven't updated a package I sent out on the December 10th for the last 3 days. I thought Fed Ex was bad...but now the Post Office too?? What gives?

Yeah I've got some stuff on eBay I'm waiting for and their USPS updates are all over the board...one shipment says it left Las Vegas 15 hours ago and arrived in LV like 8 hours ago.

I mailed out payments on bills 2 weeks ago and it took 10 days before they were received and processed. I know some of that delay might have been the destination, but come on, what is up with all the delays delivering mail?

^ Same has happened with me here in NYC the past three months. It took almost two weeks for rent checks to get to Brooklyn from Manhattan. All times, my wife mailed them from a post office in midtown Manhattan. They were mailed way early but they almost ended up past deadline each time.

Conversely, about 4 weeks ago I ordered some repair parts from Japan (lightweight stuff). I used the EMS shipping service. I placed the order on Sunday afternoon and had the order on Wednesday afternoon. That’s the norm for that service from Japan to NYC and the USPS is the final carrier. So, I don’t know what’s going on to delay their regular first class mailings.

Funny thing is I expected the package to get there withing a weeks time because it was sent via Media Mail, DVD's I sold on Ebay, but I have never had a Media Mail package take more than 7 days to reach it's destination. Going on Day 11.

Oh yeah, EMS shipments from Japan are super fast, less than a week is normal, it's great. I'm guessing that whatever contract EMS has with USPS gives their packages priority treatment.

That must be right, because a USPS carrier always comes to the door with the package. I think I have to sign for it. Anyhow, it’s the best.

USPS has problems to begin with, the holidays just exacerbate things. I personally received the tracking number from the seller on a delayed shipment (long story) on Sunday and it never showed up in the system until it reached here. Nobody at the other end ever scanned it.

I consider this system part of the communication process so if it breaks down, I give negative feedback. I know that sounds harsh, but Ebay does not give any other options to express when problems like this occur. I understand protecting your sellers but there are limits to that. You also want to protect your buyers because if nobody buys anything, you make no money. I have tried to leave negative feedback for 3 sellers that tried to rip me off and Ebay deliberately blocked me every time. They will not allow negative feedback anymore.

                    CCC.

It could. part of their funding is from merchandise sales, so they have funds, but it won't last long. They should get through the holiday with only the normal breakdowns and hopefully the bad congress people will wake up with coal in their stocking like they deserve and get the message.
