Best DVD burning program?

Hi ! I have been having trouble copying dvd's lately. For 2 years no problems making a copy , but now i'm having freezing and pausing issues on both 1 Click DVD program and Roxio. Who do you recommend? Whats considered one of the best programs around?

You might just need to update the program you have.

After a time of no updating, you'll find the new blank DVD-R's themselves have been upgraded ... and sometimes the old programs have trouble reading and burning them.

Are your freezing problems all recent, involving discs from the same spindle. One time I had a bad batch of DVD-Rs and burnt 3 or 4 "coasters" and was cursing my computer when it occurred to me what the problem might be. I tried a disc from a different package of blanks and it worked fine. So first make sure that the discs themselves aren't to blame.

I usually go with my old standby combo of DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter, but once in a while a tough disc makes me use another program like AnyDVD.

One reason i'm not happy with DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter lately .....
For copying and burning Universal DVD's, as of about 2 years ago, Universal upgraded their copyright protection ...... Shrink and DVD Decrypter can't burn most Universal's anymore.
I've been searching for a new improved version myself.

i use sonic deluxe 7, its a posh upgrade of recordnow max

i also used roxio and dvd1click with no probs but sonic is faster

i use verbatim and sony discs 16x burn on max, never no problems in my pioneer

the sonic deluxe is a nice bit of kit, probably a bit dated now but id use it before nero any day

if anyone wants a copy of sonic just ask ill be happy to send

Yeah, unfortunately Shrink/Decrypter can't handle newer Disney and Sony titles either.
It's too bad that DVD Shrink's developer stopped doing updates on the program a few years ago, it's a great, versatile little program and I'm sure that newer updates could have handled the newer copy protection now used by some studios.

I love Pioneer burners. Mine is a warhorse that has done tons of burning and is still going strong.

I like Verbatim, especially for double layer discs, where it seems like Verbatim is the only decent brand you can buy in stores for these (every other brand of double layer discs have had a nearly 50% failure rate for me!). The gold standard of DVDRs is Taiyo Yuden discs made in Japan. Those are the absolute best. You can buy them in stores in Japan, but in North America you can only buy them online.

sometimes you need to reinstall things...or update them...see the pm that i sent ya...the two disc types that cj said, those are the two that i was talking about..they are supposed to be the best....
try cutting your burn speed in half of what it can do....like if you have 16x discs..cut it to 8x..that helps....trust me....

two words for anyone out there...1clickdvd and anydvd...best combo out there..and well worht it..the first time that you burn a kids movie and your kids dont mess up the original...worth it right there...no more fingerprints on your good dvds..yea!!!!

and just for those people out there that are like "oh, they copy dvds, shame on them"....im not a dvd pirate or anything like that..i just backup my own stuff..mostly kids stuff...or ones that my kids want from my collection...like star wars or xmen...cuz i dont want my good dvds messed up....right?

Kids and DVDs are definitely a bad combination. Unfortunately my son loves playing with shiny discs. The one time I made the mistake and let him play with an original, it no longer worked the next day. I don't know what the hell he did with it, it looked barely scratched! (luckily it was a free disc that came with a toy). Anyway, I've found that backing discs up is a must, especially when it comes to kids stuff.

And the comment about lowering the burn speed is another great idea that I forgot to mention.

ive almost "died" when i have seen some of my kids dvds that they watch...full of finger prints, scratches, etc....it's like..what do you guys do to them? needless to say, that's part of the reason that i back them up now..lol...for 80 bucks or so(price of software)....it's a nice piece of mind, not to have to worry about having to buy new copies of the movies..which is a lot more expensive...

I wish for a time (in the future it must be inevitable) when a DVD player is also a massive movie storage database......

You dump the DVD into the player and it's stored forever.....

You can put thousands of DVD's in the memory of the player and watch them at will.

No more bad burns, no more scratches... etc.

If you have enough hard drive space (that's the key), this can already be done if you have a media server. I kind of use my PS3 as one, but unfortunately it cannot play DVD ISO files stored on my computer's hard drive (it plays Divx and WMV files fine though). There's other hardware out there that can stream your ripped DVD ISO files from your computer to your TV. And luckily, hard drives are getting bigger and cheaper every day.

i have a 200gb hd, paid around 100 bucks for it on ebay a couple of years ago..brand new...paid about the same price for it as i would have of a smaller one(100-130gb)...so i went with the bigger one...never run out of room..heh. im using about 20gbs of it right now...lol...ive seen bigger ones at walmart for 150 bucks...like 300gbs...man...that would be nice. if anyone put their flicks on a HD, that would be the way to go...just copy the movie only to your HD, that would be about 4gbs for each dvd...you could fit a ton of them on on HD...ive heard about people doing that. you could do that, buy ya a nice tv card for your pc, hook it up to your tv..and there ya go...always a thought...and with technology getting better every year...that wouldnt be too bad. i used to have a tv card(all in one, wonder pro..back in early 90's)when they werent that good...anywho..had one in my pc...hooked up my house ant. to it so that i could watch tv or movies on my pc(i didnt have a tv at the time)....anyways..im done rambling now...lol...
