    Cell Phone Advice

    Hello All,

I'm not good with phones, at all. I still have a blackberry.

I bought my daughter a phone two years ago and it's a hunk of junk. So I promised her a new one, we can now buy anything we want in Canada.

I'm looking for brands, models etc that you've enjoyed. I'm trying to find her a phone that will allow her to enjoy her hobbies (Instragram etc)

She doesn't want an iphone, I guess that isn't hip anymore? So I guess it's some sort of android base.

    Grateful for any response.

Heck I still have the flip phone, I keep it because it reminds me of the communicators on Star Trek, so I can still
      pretend to be Captain Kirk.

The arbiters of hip seem to be divided between Apple and Samsung. Not that they consult me.

I already knew that she had good taste because of what kind of films she likes, but this proves it!

Post flip phone, I've only had Androids, either LG or Samsung, and they've been good enough for me, but I'm 50 so what do I know. The kids seem to like the Samsung ones these days.

Now we just need to get you off of Blackberry!

I wasn’t on board with smart phones, at the beginning, but about 4 or 5 years ago I caved. I got an iPhone. I thought about an Android but Verizon had iPhone 4’s for free since a new iPhone was out. I got the iPhone and have never had any trouble with them. As of just recently, I’m on my third version.

I have a Google Pixel 2 XL, which uses Android. I really like it. It's fast and has a great camera. I used to be an avid Iphone user. Not any more after having this phone. I don't know how much you're willing to spend on a phone though.

I use Samsung Galaxy phones, work pays for them. I have a Galaxy S8 and an S8+ which I switch off and on with, the screen sizes are different on those two. I also have a couple of the Samsung Note phones as well. Hardware is good, Android is well... Android.. it's fine and does what it needs to do.

My family and extended family all use iPhones, and since I'm their tech support, it's a huge benefit since the Apple phones are real nice as well and super easy to use, any very rarely are there any issues. The App store is massive as well. The find my iPhone works like a charm and is a nice way to be able to see where your kids are. Android has similar things, but it's not as polished as Apple's version. My son just upgraded to a new iPhone XS and it's a beautiful phone with a super nice screen and the camera is real nice as well.

At the end of the day, they all do just about the same things, and have the same apps everyone wants. Apple tends to have a higher price going in because the phones are higher priced, but resale on those when you upgrade are pretty high compared to the Android handsets.

I have a Google Pixel 2 XL with Google's Fi Service...can use the Phone almost anywhere in the World there is Service for a Flat Data/Text Fee of $10 per GB and Unlimited beyond 12GB...includes Family Plan.

Phone Service is also pretty good...so far no complaints, and I travel alot too.
