Is this really something to be proud of, something to brag about?

Personally, I think guns have a bad rep around the world -- especially in Europe .......

Here in the US, we love our guns ......

We love to own them, admire them --- and yes, play with them in a responsible way.

Guns in civilian hands is an arguement that will never be settled because our cultures (Europe and America) are very different.

I'm not trying to say who is right or wrong .......

I'm just saying, American's (including me) love guns

              They're our heritage...

I don't care what Europeans think of our appreciation for guns, like you said, it's an American thing...love it or leave it.

They think it's a big no-no for Damien to post this, but to us Yanks, it's a fun thread of a poster showing his brand new toy.

My dad had guns and educated me on guns...and I'll be damned if I let anyone try to lecture me on them otherwise.

I think this thread has suddenly turned political.

                    Imagine a world without guns...

Sure people will always kill...thats what humans do.

But if people didn't use them, or feel that they had the option to use them the world would be a much safer place...

We as a species should have evolved beyond answering an argument with a bullet.

Sure you may see it as a God given right, but really only life is a God given right...

This is a Big difference between Europe & the US...long may it last.

I've tried real hard not to get political here....sorry...I couldn't bite my tongue.

                      I like to target-shoot...so it's a moot point.

                      But nice try, Mr Monkey.

That's a moot point too since I'm agnostic.

This thread has not only turned political, but religious too.

I'm not a gun owner but this type of stuff doesn't bother me at all as long as it's legal.

As already stated, it's a cultural thing. I'm not accustomed to seeing people drinking alcohol openly on the tube system and it is illegal to do so on the Washington D.C. system at least so I found it a bit strange to hear that England just outlawed it the other day.

I also find it odd to see that cigarettes can be purchased in Europe from unmanned machines and young kids smoking and drinking openly in the streets and restaurants.

I'm just not used to it and there are laws prohibiting minors (under 18) from purchasing tobacco or under 21 to purchase alcohol. Of course, minors smoke and drink but it's not something you would typically see on U.S. streets at least where I live.

I kind of look at it like this ....

Forget about guns (any guns) for one moment ........

We American's also love hunting .....

Many hunter's choose to use a bow rather than a rifle.

IMO, a bow is just as deadly (to an animal or person) as a gun is.

Should they be made illegal too ?

                                Where would it end ?

How 'bout making Power Tools illegal too ?
