Being on the East Coast of U.S., it is a 8-9 hour flight I believe to Continental Europe compared to a 24 hour non-stop flight to Australia. It is basically on the opposite side of the world. Would love to visit someday but haven't seen enough things that are much closer.

As far as Cuba, it isn't legal for a U.S. citizen to visit. I'm not sure if it is also illegal in other countries. It was fun to try a few Cuban Cigars in Germany where they are legal but I'm not really a cigar afficionado so I really can't tell that much of a difference between a good Cuban and a good cigar from the Dominican Republic.

I live in the USA and have only been out of the country once. I spent about a week in Niagara Falls, Canada. I've only been to about eight of the states, but one of them was Hawaii. My wife and I got a free trip to Maui.

          Pretty short list I'm afraid:

          USA (including Alaska)
          Canada
          Mexico
          Puerto Pico
          Germany

There are so many places I'd love to visit someday.

I really want to visit the world, and plan on going to most continents and as many countries as I can, but have been trying to see the US in the meantime. I have about 10 states to go.

My countries are limited to this side of the Atlantic...

              Mexico
              Canada
              Bermuda
              Bahamas
              Turks and Caicos
              Jamaica

I would LOVE to go to Australia, I've always wanted to (New Zealand too!) but as mentioned, the flight time is crazy long from where I live. Japan is bad enough at 12 hours, Australia would be 20 or more. I don't know if I could handle that long of a flight unless I could go first or business class in one of those big seats that fold out into a bed.

I think it's just a US thing. I haven't heard of any other country that has laws against going to Cuba. I'll leave it at that, as we can't get into politics here.

Definitely not illegal here. I had a chance to go there with my school, but it was a bit too expensive

Actually, it wasn't all that cheap.
With the money we got back, we went on a scouting expedition for a new room. We ended up at the Marina, in the Surf Motel. We paid less, the guy gave us a big reduction, in exchange for a $50 under-the-table bribe.

In the end, we spent less than in the first hotel.
Should you ever go to San Francisco: try out the International Hotel. It's a experience. Tell them we sent ya!

                                Why not?

I think something like Japan would be awesome.

I went to Indonesia (Jakarta) about 15 years ago...I had a blast...but it's too damn bloody far.
