    AMC cancels Comic Book Men

After 7 seasons and 96 shows, Kevin Smith announces the demise of "Comic Book Men".

Personally, the show grew on me after initially despising it. I've probably seen every one but always with my finger on the fast forward button to push through the filler.

Still, it raised the profile of Mego and other collectibles and for the most part, did a good job of it.

I'm sad to read this because I always got a kick out the show. I watched mostly to see the guys crackin-wise on each other and kept tuning in for those interactions along with the celebrity appearances and stories. I don't imagine anyone on this board would have found it very enlightening on comics and collectibles, though. Seemed like it was on its way out when they started airing the new eps at midnight.

I always set the DVR and watch it, but to be honest I won't miss it if its gone. It was a fun diversion for a half hour while I was playing with the dog or grabbing a quick meal, but it was never appointment television for me. I was entertained often, and learned a thing or two (I wasn't aware of Ben Cooper jigglers for instance, I never saw them as a kid and only learned about them from the show and the Pod Stallions podcast), and I got to see a thing or two I had only heard about when they were brought in, but for the most part it was enjoyable fluff with occasional groan-worthy/fast forward through segments mixed in.

I'm surprised there wasn't a push for 4 more episodes to make it to 100.

I enjoyed the items featured. I sought out the Chemtoy Clark Kent because I saw it on the Superman episode.

I got to where I enjoyed it for what is was. Geek culture awareness. For the most part I thought it was fun.

I gave up watching it two years ago. I just got tired of their annoying forced fake laughing from their lame jokes.

I liked the show well enough, though I would have enjoyed more "real" moments from the podcast end of it. But it was still decent for what it was, mindless TV. I think they got a bit too much involved with the skits and stuff, but it had it's moments. That said, I thought this got canned ages ago and haven't watched new episodes in a while. When it's not on-demand anymore, I just stop looking for things.

I liked the show. I didn't watch all of them yet, but I was a fan of Kevin Smith movies before that, and also listened to their podcasts.

I enjoyed seeing all the toys on there, many I did not know about. It's always good to see all the comicbook artwork as well.

I thought it would last as long as The Walking Dead.

I stopped watching AMC on a regular basis after "Mad Men" ended. Because of that, I wasn't aware, until recently, that "Comic Book Men" was still on. I watched it some in the first season or two. I thought it was pretty decent, but it didn't hold my interest. Then again, for some reason, I thought it had been cancelled a few years ago. I'm glad to know that it was able to keep going for quite a few years. That's quite the accomplishment, on TV, these days.

Kevin mentioned during the most recent SModcast episode that he might consider shopping the show around to other cable networks or possibly putting it online. Bryan Johnson, Ming Chen, and Jay Mewes are scheduled to appear at the Washington State Toy and Geek show this weekend.

I got sick of the fake celebrity skits.

Same thing with American Pickers! Keep it original and organic that’s what made these shows hits in the first place!
