One burger chain I wished was in California is White Castle. The closet we got are the frozen White Castle boxes they sell here at the supermarkets. They taste pretty good. I can imagine they are much better served at their establishments.

Microwaved supermarket White Castles are a pretty fair representation of local White Castle burgers ...

For Carrol's,you never ate at the one that use to be in Butler NJ? My folks would stop there either going to or coming back from my grandparents house in Butler. Later on it was replaced with a Burger King.

Oh man, I wish one of the burger places near me served clam strips.

A few burger chains that I'm curious about but have never been to because they aren't local: White Castle, In and Out, Jack in the Box, Sonic.

I enjoy White Castle, but rarely go even though I have one about a 20 minute drive away. That White Castle is in such a bad area of the Bronx that the counter is protected by bullet proof glass. The food is really good there, but it’s not worth the risk.

Anyone have any Zipps Drive Thru in their areas? The chain ended up getting bought out by Rally's.

They had awesome fries and my wife always liked their tacos.

Rax is mentioned above as well, and we had both Rax and Arby's at the same time. I liked Rax better, their BBC sandwich, Beef, Bacon and Cheddar was awesome! All of them in my area closed up and Fazolis replaced them.

I was just back down in Pigeon Forge, TN, and the former A&W Drive-In is now something called "Chocolate Monkey". It looks to be a local ice cream chain.

I have never had Jack-in-the Box or In-and-Out burger. I've never even seen either of them in person.

Sonic's burgers aren't bad as far as I'm concerned, but I wish they'd go back to using real shredded cheese on their chili-dogs. That cheese-whiz crap is gross.

I was eating at Boston Market when it was still called Boston Chicken and before it expanded nationally. There was one within walking distance of campus when I was at university in the late 80s/early 90s and it was miles better than anything the cafeteria at school offered and it was eight across the way from the theatre where I worked my junior and senior years at school, so often got dinner break food there.

Most of these restaurants mentioned, never were around these parts, or that I can remember.
I do remember eating at the Kresge's diner at the local mall with my mom and grandmother on
Saturday afternoon after I got a Mego figure.

Anyone remember the York Steakhouse restaurants?

^ I guess eating at Krege's diner was similar to eating in the K-Mart cafeteria later on. I'd do the same thing on Saturday afternoons after buying a Mego or some other action figure in the toy department. Looking back, the food probably wasn't that great, but it was really good to me at the time.

I've never heard of York Steakhouse, but when I moved to NYC, in 2001, I discovered a steakhouse chain called Tad's. It's not bad at all. I'm not sure how many are left. I know there is still one on 50th Street and 7th Ave.

In N Out uses the freshest ingredients out of all the large burger chains. Nothing is frozen. All the beef and produce are obtained regionally. Employees are also one of the highest paid in the fast food industry. Store Managers make $80K.

In-N-Out also offers benefits to all employees, including part-time workers, which is nearly unheard-of in fast food. Other perks include paid vacations, free meals, comprehensive training and even a 401k plan.

And their burgers and meals are cheap, it’s an inexpensive burger joint...I don’t know how they do it...

In N Out has a secret menu. It’s not advertised. But regular customers know all the custom goodies you can get, such as ordering Animal Style, which includes grilled onions and a special sauce. You can also order Animal Style Fries, which includes grilled minced onions, special sauce and melted cheese.





You can also request a giant burgers with as many patties as you wish.

This is a 100x100 burger...



My go to In N Out burger is the Double Double...and yes, they look exactly like this, unlike other burger joints’ fake pictures...



But when I’m starving, once in a while I go for the 3x3...and if I’m dying of hunger, the 4x4...
