‘Bout time GTD saw some fruits from his labors! I’m super glad he took both the Director and Picture Oscars. There may be hope for the Academy yet! ; )
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.
Thanks to del Toro there was lots of Toronto love last night. I feel like even when winning movies are made here the fact that they were made here is sort of hush-hush. Cool to see.
Excellent for him! Well deserved. I like that he can do both popcorn (Pacific Rim) and more indie-arthouse stuff (Devil's Backbone). His knowledge of history, myth, and legends is extraordinary. There's videos of his home out there, and while his collection is impressive, his library is even more so.
Very happy to see Del Toro win for best director and picture! I've always been a fan but have a new appreciation for him after attending his "At Home With Monsters" exhibit at the AGO a few months ago. He's really "One of us!".
I'm so glad he won and that the field is getting some renewed attention and respect outside the circle.
I enjoyed this interview he did back in April, not only does it reveal some 'Projects', but you really get a sense of the 'inner geek' that he is.
Of note about his Projects, the ones that REALLY grabbed My Attention was: 'At the Mountains of Madness' ( I am a HUGE HP Lovecraft Fan) & 'Pinocchio' (LOVE his take on the beloved Italian Fable by Carlo Collodi).
HOPEFULLY they will get the dust shaken off and revived from the Cancellation Pile.
Everyone is Entitled to MY Opinion...Your's, not so much!
