Going POSTAL!!!

I went to mail a package today. Not a small package but not huge either. it was a custom Stealth Iron Man statue I sold on ebay. It fit into a Copy Paper box, again not huge. I calculated the postage before the auction at $10. When I went to mail it today I found out the there is now a Sur-charge on boxes over 14". They wanted an additonal $8 for this!!! I opted for the parcel post and while I hate doing that to the guy who bought the staue I was not going to pick-up the $8. So watch those box sizes!!

I have a friend who is a postmaster. He says that FEDEX is now in charge of air delivery for the post office. That's where the size regulations/surcharges are coming into play.

USPS.com has a calculator. You have to read everything carefully but I have found it to be fairly accurate.

Ahh... The growing pains of online sales. Ever constantly changing. Just when one thinks that they have it down to an art. Another change (monkey wrench if you will) is thrown into the mix.
