This used to get a lot of radio play in the 1980s. Van Morrison, Them, Doors, lots of recordings of this. This is a lesser known version by Shadows of Knight, a bit slower but still powerful. Unless you have Sirius XM, Youtube, Spotify or Pandora, you just don't hear this stuff any more. Great songs All of em!

great song. I met David Crosby when I was in High School. as part of his rehab he had to give talks to kids about the dangers of drug use. my health teacher entered a radio contest and won tickets to his show and the drug talk for the whole class. of course most of the class had no idea who he was so only a few of us went. I wish we had iphones back then so I could have gotten some pictures, LOLComment

That's a great version. Neil Diamond covering the monkees. Or visaversa. Whichever. A lot of bands covered each other's stuff back then and sounded so great doing it they added to their album. That reminded me of another. Kentucky Woman. And Deep Purple (original lineup) covered it as well as Ike and Tina Turner, River Deep Mountain High. It's great version and pretty lost from the airwaves today.
