Man, I'm probably forgetting a bunch, but off the top of my head:

      Freaks and Geeks
      Get a Life
      POTA
      Carnivale
      Constantine

And I know that the Brits tend to have much shorter seasons (or rather, "series") and runs, instead of beating popular shows into the ground like US TV does, but I wish there was more of these to watch:

      Black Books
      Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
      IT Crowd
      Snuff Box

Watching last night's episode of Doctor Who made me think of another show I loved that got the short stick...

          FARSCAPE

For my money, one of THE best science fiction shows ever!!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

When I was a kid I clearly remember thinking the world had gone mad because "Sledge Hammer!" wasn't one of the biggest hits on television.

If you haven't seen it yet, you may want to check out "Angie Tribeca" on TBS. It is definitely in the same mold.

Ryan Murphy's "Popular" from the late 90's/early 2000's, and more recently, Agent Carter. I really miss watching Peggy interact with Jarvis. :(

Then, ABC HAD to give it the 'Tenspeed and Brownshoe' treatment, and kept bouncing it all over the timeslot. Or worst preempting it. No wonder it got cancelled. You don't know HOW ticked off I was at that.
Cool, you noted enjoying The Phoenix... looks like despite the leading actor/show star being closely connected to the Star Trek franchise, many here didn't particularly see it or like it enough to mention it. Wonder why.

Anyway, it was one of the first live-action shows I took to as a kid, as it had many classic "superhero" qualities to it, yet seemed something all it's own. Nowadays, I realize a lot of it was like watching Superman if he was high and hung out in California a lot, but the stuff I didn't understand back then, instead of being frustrated by it, I found it delightfully mysterious.

Maybe one of these days I'll get a replica medallion to commemorate this nostalgic show we remember with fondness!

Oh wow - THANK YOU! How have I never heard of this before?!! And I LOVE Rashida Jones!

I just saw the episode of Black Mirror starring Ron Howard's daughter and found out Jones co-wrote it! And that episode is better than 90% of the movies I saw last year. (Though, Black Mirror tends to hit that percentage a lot.)

This also reminds me of "Eagleheart", which is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. Cheers!

I would view Tribeca as more "Police Squad" but it's still worth checking out. Always surprised David Rasche didn't become a bigger star after Sledge Hammer.

So many of my favorites have already been mentioned, but not "Private Eye" which had a young Josh Brolin and Bill Sadler - yet only lasted half a season. I still watch my old VHS copies (it's from the 80's).

It seemed like every show I got into in the 80s got cancelled very quickly.

                            The Master
                            Automan
                            The Highwayman
                            Street Hawk
                            Voyagers

I think Starman made it to two seasons, but I could be wrong. Same with Sledge Hammer.

Of course Police Squad had a very short run, but it surprisingly came back in a big way.

Brisco County, Jr. and The Flash were the shows in the 90s that I really, REALLY missed. Especially The Flash.

And yes, The Critic! I still see The Simpsons crossover episode from time to time on FXX.

Norman Fell stated in later years that his biggest mistake ever was leaving a show that was ranked # 1 (Three's Company) at the time! When Johnny Carson interviewed him, Carson said it best, "are you out of your mind?"
If you liked the ropers, I recommend getting GEORGE & MILDRED; which is the original British version, it is funny as hell!! One of the best brit coms that I have ever seen. Just as MAN ABOUT THE HOUSE, was the original Three's company.
